Anyone know why they do it this way? Do other T14 do it not by phone/email? I assumed email was pretty standard.

Kind of. On the other hand, I'm not obsessing over checking it. And by the looks of this thread, things aren't quite as hectic as over at the Harvard thread.ph5354a wrote:Torturemalleus discentium wrote:Anyone know why they do it this way? I like how that was Jack talking to Jenna about torture.

To be honest I wish they all did it like CLS. No status checker updates, no calls or emails. Just a plain old-fashioned letter that you'll get when you get it.

In theory, it's much less torturous than email/status checker nonsense, but on TLS, when you have someone in your same city receiving a NCE, it will turn you into a psychopath who gladly cancels happy hour plans so you can rush home to check the mail.

Absolutely. Then I could spend less time on TLS.lawschool22 wrote:To be honest I wish they all did it like CLS. No status checker updates, no calls or emails. Just a plain old-fashioned letter that you'll get when you get it.

Haven't been stressing about CLS at all.

Georgetown and Michigan both notify via snail mail with an email follow up a few days later.malleus discentium wrote:Anyone know why they do it this way? Do other T14 do it not by phone/email? I assumed email was pretty standard.

I submitted 12/15 and am still stuck at "completion pending." I wasn't worried until I saw that people who submitted after me had already gone complete. All the components are marked as received/complete. Should I call and ask if there's a problem?

GULC and CLS are the only T14s I'm aware of where you have to wait for the snail mail.

Though w/GULC, you don't really have to wait, thanks to the ASW hack. (Not sure about CLS.)midwest17 wrote:Except Michigan also has the status checker notification.Come on Down wrote:Georgetown and Michigan both notify via snail mail with an email follow up a few days later.malleus discentium wrote:Anyone know why they do it this way? Well, yeah. Although that's been a somewhat unreliable way of figuring it out, from what I can tell.vuthy wrote:Though w/GULC, you don't really have to wait, thanks to the ASW hack. Columbia, on the other hand, sends you a PIN with your admission letter. So no hacks there: https://web.law.columbia.edu/admissions ... d/activate

Does the status checker on CLS' website change once a decision is made?
So basically if we are admitted we will find out by mail and if WL or denied, they will notify by email??

The status checker doesn't change once you go complete. And in previous years, admitted students have found out via large envelopes in the mail (they used to be an ugly vomit color) while WLs and dings are sent by e-mail.AAJD2B wrote:Does the status checker on CLS' website change once a decision is made?

Yeah, I could do without the status checkers, but snail mail would be just as horrible to wait for than email/phone calls, too.ph5354a wrote:In theory, it's much less torturous than email/status checker nonsense, but on TLS, when you have someone in your same city receiving a NCE, it will turn you into a psychopath who gladly cancels happy hour plans so you can rush home to check the mail.

Plus im terrfied of the vomit letter being lost in the mail or accidntally put in one of my neighbor's boxes who doesn't give a shit and won't get it to me. That's why i have a bunch of law school gmail filters..can't do that with snail mail:/gta wrote:Yeah, I could do without the status checkers, but snail mail would be just as horrible to wait for than email/phone calls, too.ph5354a wrote:In theory, it's much less torturous than email/status checker nonsense, but on TLS, when you have someone in your same city receiving a NCE, it will turn you into a psychopath who gladly cancels happy hour plans so you can rush home to check the mail.

Lol'ed at this. It's hard to get obsessed with snail mail though; you can't constantly checking your mail box.ph5354a wrote:In theory, it's much less torturous than email/status checker nonsense, but on TLS, when you have someone in your same city receiving a NCE, it will turn you into a psychopath who gladly cancels happy hour plans so you can rush home to check the mail.

Yeah I agree. I would think emails/calls are more reliable than mails these days.Balthy wrote: Plus im terrfied of the vomit letter being lost in the mail or accidntally put in one of my neighbor's boxes who doesn't give a shit and won't get it to me. So if they follow last year's time table, we should expect the first RD wave letters to be mailed out at the end of this week, right?
