Im really hoping that we hear by friday since after that theres only one week left in the month and a woman in admissions told me everything would be finalized by then.mwilson37 wrote:Im in the same boat U of F sure likes taking their timeh2oplyer7 wrote:Hello all, I am just wondering if anyone else has not heard back from UF? I have been "no decision reached" since November 11th. I am not the strongest candidate (2.7/162) so I was expecting a reject. Could it be that my package is lost? It just seems weird that I have not heard back one way or another. I will be going to Maryland most likely anyways, but I can't bring myself to withdraw from UF until I know what's up.

Could anyone speak to how expensive cabs are in Gainesville? The condo I'm looking at is on 34th SW, which seems to be a little far from the nightlife. Are cabs prevalent, cost prohibitive, etc?

Cab fares here are set by the drivers, so you could pay 40 bucks one night and 10 another to get to the same place. They're ridiculous and you have to tip.Geaux12 wrote:Could anyone speak to how expensive cabs are in Gainesville? The bus system on the other hand, is amazing. The Later Gator will take you home from downtown and midtown and it's free with your Gator1.

Gotcha Ride is really useful too. I have never had to wait too long to get a ride and it's free (but you should tip a few bucks).LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:Cab fares here are set by the drivers, so you could pay 40 bucks one night and 10 another to get to the same place. I think I've used a cab twice in Gainesville. I find them expensive (though obviously a better choice than driving drunk) and unreliable. Also, it's not like a real city where you could just flag down a cab as you leave a bar.Geaux12 wrote:Could anyone speak to how expensive cabs are in Gainesville? I'll have a good answer for you after grades come out from this semesterUMiamiCane wrote:

Lame. Hopefully getting rides home won't be too big of a deal.

I checked last year's thread after the admitted student day, it took snail mail for students to be notified. The good news is we are either going to the waitlist or accepted student status. I dont think that we would have been kept for so long for a denial letter.lynzl84 wrote:Same here. No email yet, so I'm hopeful. I agree, I was just referring to the fact that all the dings thus far, at least according to this thread, were via email, so no email = WL or admit. At least that's what I hope it means.mwilson37 wrote:I checked last year's thread after the admitted student day, it took snail mail for students to be notified. I also had a status change with "notice issued" today! I am, of course, hoping for an acceptance from the school I once said was my "dream school" but having already began the process of matriculating at FSU it would certainly throw a wrench into my current plans! I'm hanging on the WL at Washington and Lee, waiting to find out my scholarship offer from LSU, but really only waiting to hear from Florida. Withdrew from all other schools already.

I was accepted and then recently received a scholarship for $27,000. I was wondering how hard it is to get in-state residency starting second year.

$30,000 in scholarships from FSU, $90,000 in scholarships from Stetson, or paying UF full tuition? Any advice? I am a Gator undergrad so I am conflicted.

Is that actually a question, or are you just wanting to brag about your full tuition?Dc2136 wrote:$30,000 from FSU, $90,000 from Stetson, or UF full tuition?

No
I would be paying full tuition to UF.

I had different options but it came down to uf and lsu at roughly the same price. I went to uf undergrad so I picked uf. I'll always wonder what lsu would have been like, but I know I'm sure not happy here.Moose Thompson wrote:I went to UF undergrad, had the same offers and chose UF. Just checked my status- last time it was updated was 2/22 as Final Review, No Decision Reached. Today it updated the date to 4/23 but still says FRNDR. When I called admissions, the woman said we were supposed to know conclusively by the end of the month, so Im getting worried. Is anyone else still waiting to hear?

I'm in the same boat as you. My file went FRNDR on 2/23, and it updated for the first time today, but it's still FRNDR. I applied back in November; what's another few weeks? :/beachy wrote:Just checked my status- last time it was updated was 2/22 as Final Review, No Decision Reached. I'm also still waiting - went to FRNDR 4/19. I didn't apply till the deadline though, so I guess I can't complain too much.rwhyAn wrote:I'm in the same boat as you. Have you received your decision letter yet? Mine's supposedly headed to my parent's house in Texas because I was moving from one place to another during the application cycle, and I'm a bit stir-crazy waiting on it to show up.
