Looks like they're still going through the files and when we see DLS for people who applied in Jan then we'll know they're return back to the soft holds.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Great points and I wonder if the last minute SLS fee waivers say more about the lack of qualified applicants and/or need to reject more students for selectivity. Either way, I agree that hold/WL/rejections are more likely now and that 'superstars' recieve their acceptances very quickly.bogm2012 wrote:This seems off to me; I disagree entirely with the bolded section. If we assume that LSN people are just average for Stanford (sort of a large assumption generally, probably less so for HYS), then just multiplying out the 50 acceptances by the applicant variable would already put Stanford over its 379 acceptance total from last year (4248 total last year/525 LSN total this year = ~8.1. 8.1 * 50 = 405). Considering SLS is not done with its acceptances and so the number of acceptances may still be increasing, this suggests that LSN people are above average. The extent to which this is true would seem to indicate how many slots are left (i.e., if these people are true superstars, maybe there really are 310 spots left [doubtful]. If they are more average, then we might be near full capacity already).johnson.jelly wrote:A quick look at LSN gives me the following. Also, it's uncanny how LSN is a pretty accurate sample size.sharktankdean wrote:does anyone want to hypothesize/theorize on how many people Stanford may have admitted...what % of people on 'soft hold' get accepted and when the WL usually comes out?
LSN Sample:
# of Applicants: ~525
# Admitted: ~50
# Rejected: ~47
# of Wait List: 0
Stanford Law Applicant Pool:
# of Applicants: ~4,000
# Admitted: ~360 (calculated at a 9% admit rate)
Analysis:
LSN represents ~13% of the SLS applicant pool and since ~50 of the ~360 admits come from LSN, we can liberally deduce that ~310 seats are still available. I say liberally since there are those admitted students who choose not to share their info on LSN. It's also important to note that from the LSN sample, 9.52% of applicants have been admitted -- mirroring SLS's ~9% acceptance rate for the entire applicant pool.
I think it stands to reason that the acceptance rate is far more likely to be accurate than the rejection rate (people update with good news. few people rush to LSN to declare they were rejected, especially now, where SLS might be the last school you're hearing from, so a rejection would effectively end your cycle and with it any reason to update this data), and maybe TLS people have an average of 12-15% acceptances, but I think from this point out we may only see a bunch of hold/WL action, if any.
Good luck to everyone still waiting and congrats to all those accepted!

What ballpark LSAT/GPA combo qualifies as auto-admit at Stanford? Anyone want to wildly speculate?

Just look at LSN for the people that have been admitted so far. It's around +174 and +3.9. Then again, there are some waitlists at those numbers from last year, so there isn't ever a true auto-admit for Stanford.jd5 wrote:What ballpark LSAT/GPA combo qualifies as auto-admit at Stanford? Ps- not to get anyone overly excited... but if the pattern follows the same as last year... we might be due for some "soft hold" acceptances today... a few came on the first friday of March last year.
