Re: University of North Carolina 2013
Waitlisted today via email. 160, 3.82, OOS. I am surprised I didn't get flat-out rejected but I don't know much about the UNC waitlist...anyone know how many are typically waitlisted and how many get in off the WL?

Hi Everyone. I've been following this forum for some time, and I finally cracked and decided to join.
I am happy that I did not receive a waitlist email tonight, but I will be terrified to check the snail mail all week as a result. Ugh.

WL as well and I won't stay on the waitlist. I've picked my school already and am in the process of actively withdrawing from the others! Good luck to all of you!

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
last year around 350 people stayed on the wait list and 23 were admitted off of it. But they use the waitlist to fill demographics and balance out the class, so they'll be picking based off of whether they need more oos, more representation from certain states, more urm, whatever.flchick1 wrote:Waitlisted today via email. 160, 3.82, OOS. When did the people who are receiving decisions go complete?

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
I was wondering if anyone was set on staying in state, and is thus looking at either Campbell or UNC at this point?
I have out of state options that may "rank" higher than Campbell, but I am not sure I want to leave the state, particularly with Campbell's impressive NC bar passage rate that blows everyone out of the water. I feel that if I don't hear back from UNC favorably, which was always my first choice of schools, that I am going to opt to stay in state as opposed to go to higher ranked but much more expensive out of state schools. Anyone in a similar situation?

I'm in a similar situation. I've been on the preferred waitlist at Maryland which from what I've read means I'm pretty much accepted. However, I'd have to pay OOS tuition there which is close to $35k. On the other hand, going to Campbell where they've given me scholly money, I've pretty much decided on them if I get a reject from UNC. I'm just waiting until the 4/1 deadline to see if I hear back from UNC before sending in my Campbell deposit.

Right, the OOS sticker at American is just so hard to swallow for me, despite their strong trial advocacy program. Looking forward to hearing positively from UNC, but after this weekends Campbell visit I think I will be set on Raleigh if I don't.Type_S_Maniac wrote:I'm in a similar situation. Also, I've got a wife and a house here in the Triangle so it's not as easy to pick up and move unfortunately.

Just get a new wife and house in Maryland. Should be plenty of those to go around ITE. Think of it as starting a new franchise.Type_S_Maniac wrote:Also, I've got a wife and a house here in the Triangle so it's not as easy to pick up and move unfortunately.

I clicked on the "Edit" button for the Fall 2010 application and it gave me an error. I clicked on the text below it saying "Check scores" or something like that. At the bottom of the page it took me to I saw my JD application. I have been waitlisted but it says "Thank you for submitting your application. Your decision is not yet available." So I was wondering if it says "accepted" for anyone who has been accepted. Yes, I'm fishing for a status checker.
I'm an UG here who's been accepted and I've got to be honest I don't know what the new myunc portal is. I guess that shows how studious I've been this semester haha. I'll check it out and let you know what I find.
edit: It says no decision has been made. Like everything else this cycle for UNC, this seems to be an unorganized mess. Sorry...

Has anyone started looking at housing yet? I was over there today checking some places out. If you have recommendations please let me know.

I'm looking at a few in Glen Lennox for single cottage houses. I'm trying to find a roommate though to split the bill. If not, I really don't mind residing alone for 1L.dkirby87 wrote:Has anyone started looking at housing yet? I was over there today checking some places out. Scholarships are coming. I just got ~20k/yr. Out of state ~167 ~3.5. Scholly had GPA requirements so I'm a little hesitant but I still feel blessed to have the offer.

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
I received the scholarship offer email as well. 7500/yr (in state) with a 2.0 GPA requirement for the first year and 2.25 for the last two years. The email asks for an immediate reply, or response by April 5 or else the offer is forfeited.
The email came at 10:30 last night.
I particularly loved this part of the email: "This scholarship offer is the highest amount we can offer to you. We cannot negotiate in response to offers from other law schools. If you have any additional questions about this award, please don't hesitate to contact me. Congratulations again on this offer."
Gotta love UNC for "keeping it real"!
