If all law schools had UIUC's online presence, I'd wager that the law school admissions cycle would be far less stressful for most involved. Kudos to Dean Pless for making this process as transparent as possible.

Of course, I could be biased at present, as I'm one of the lucky 41 applicants who got accepted today. Thanks for making my day!

Actually I read files all weekend and in the evenings as well as during the ten to eleven hours a day I am in the office. I started reviewing this batch on February 26th. We do try to give applicants a quick turnaround on decisions however, usually that is appreciated. At this point in the cycle, after decisions have been made on over 3,300 applications, it becomes very difficult to be admitted.

How refreshing it is to find a Dean of Admissions communicating directly with applicants. You, sir, are amazing.
The rest of the admissions team is just as helpful.

Pless is a great guy, but he roots for the wrong team (all about the Niners). Illinois is a great school, and every admitted student should try to visit Champaign-Urbana. All of the students and professors are chill, and it would be a great place to spend the next 3 years.

I believe Dean Pless said at the earliest April 1, but most likely after the deposit deadline on April 30th.

As others have noted, you must have a very uninformed view of the admissions office at UIUC. Dean Pless has been unbelievably helpful and thorough in reviewing both my own application as well as thousands of others. I would hope that you get some more information before you come to such a hasty conclusion.

Further, his presence on this board, something that is not done by many other Admissions offices is a testament to his commitment to a comprehensive and transparent admissions process.

Just wanted to say what a wonderful time I had at the Admitted Students weekend. Dean Smith, Pless, the entire faculty and students were more than welcoming. :-). Great job Illinois!

I second that sentiment. It was fantastic and all the faculty were friendly and brilliant (especially Dean Smith via his mock class). I will also say, the current students were both friendly and forthcoming with their honest answers. Anyone looking for more specifics can PM for any other information. If you are thinking about checking Illinois out, I cannot stress enough that this was a great experience for me.

I have a few, I have to run to work shortly, but will try to get them posted tonight. They are nothing that terrific, but I have some pictures of different areas of the law building if that is what you are interested in.

+1 to Illinois.

I meant to post this a few days ago, but it slipped my mind. I emailed the admissions office early last week to set up a visit. Someone got back to me within 5 minutes (I had emailed the wrong person, she was forwarding my note to the person who schedules visits). Then, the person to whom she forwarded my message wrote me within 5 minutes with some options. I responded and she wrote back again quite quickly. The whole process of scheduling a visit, even though I originally emailed the wrong person, took less than 15 minutes. I am incredibly impressed.

I agree, they come across as running a first-class operation when it comes to recruiting students.

Just a couple of days normally. If it has been longer than that just send me an email and I can check on it for you.

The acceptance e-mail mentioned that the law school would be sending out videos of the campus. Does everyone get this? Or just some people.

Some people have reported getting a flash drive with a bunch of admissions stuff on it. I haven't gotten mine yet, though I am anxious to see everything on there.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
