+1. This is totally terrifying, the first big wave of rejections at a school I really want to get into - so not loving TLS right now. And yet I keep coming back.5ky wrote:Dear god, I'm not going to make it through this process alive. I've never not wanted to get an email so badly.

I should quit checking my email since it looks like they haven't gotten to the November pile.

Waitlisted. First non-acceptance I've gotten this cycle, so I can't complain. Plus I wouldn't go there over Michigan, so doubly can't complain! I'll withdraw my app, hope that helps someone. Not sure if withdrawing from a waitlist helps enormously. Good luck to everyone!

Has anyone who is neither above (or very close to) the GPA median or the LSAT median gotten anything other than a rejection? I haven't noticed any, and that's not a good thing for me considering my stats!

Just got the waitlist email. First non acceptance too but this still sucks. 169/3.7 been under review for like 2 months.

Very impressive softs and solid stats to boot. I would never have expected an outright rejection with your resume. My genuine condolences. If you're worried about getting shut-out, why not add schools in the T15-T25? Going to Vanderbilt on scholarship might take the sting out of your cycle.Shaggier1 wrote:I don't mind the rejection all that much to be honest, since UVA was the school I least wanted to attend... It is just scary to start my cycle off with a rejection. Now I face the possibility of a shut-out. I knew it was a possibility coming in, but now I am actually fearing it.
Damnit.
edit: I'm a splitter October applicant, so I'm awaiting my WL/reject email too...

I guess it's a good day to not get an email from them.

Do they ever offer admission to people on the waiting list before the initial seat deposit deadline?

waitlisted at uva complete 11/9/09 168/3.7

thoughts on lsating again in feb?

Re: UVA 2010, RD
I'm here, visiting in your thread as requested. While every school has a slightly different personality (what worked at Fordham will not work at YLS, according to their admissions blog, so don't even try it), there are some general principles to be followed in waitlist management:
If UVA is your first choice, for the love of all that is holy, say so. Your line is that you will pay your seat deposit as soon as you are admitted. Then, when you are admitted, do so.
Visit! People are a lot more memorable in person. I was a familiar face in my admissions office by the day I came by with my seat deposit. Because adcomms knew me, I was not just a stack of papers.
Keep them updated (once a month, by email, is perfect) with updated resumes, new LORs (depending on the school), etc. Make sure they know that they are still your #1.
Know everything there is to know about UVA. I wound up learning enough about Fordham that I could rep the school at the LSAC forum as a first semester 1L.
Our LOCIs (Deadatheist and I worked on this project) can be found here:

That is all, I think. Back to Ks studying.

just got the waitlist email . . . seems to be a wave of them going out . . . still a win for me, because Virginia was quite a longshot, so I feel honored it wasn't a straight reject. . . good luck everyone
