Someone on LSN reported a ding with a 1/16 complete date. The wave is finally upon us, late Jan completes, hold onto your seats and despair.

That's not true. Don't jinx us! I don't know their methodology, but there have been several instances when Stanford hits a certain range of dates. For instance, one day it could hit 12/14, 12/20, 12/21, and then the next day people could be reporting 12/10, 12/16, 12/14 rejections. Ahh!

Sorry to hear that...went complete same day as you. Now I'm nervous. Guess they've made it that far after all. Best of luck to you!!

Hey all, lurker here, posting for the first time because I have a question that I couldn't find an easy answer to just browsing the forum. I apologize for that in advance.

I've been accepted to most schools I've applied to but haven't heard from Stanford (my top choice) since I applied back in November, so I'm assuming I'm waiting for a waitlist or a ding. Recently, I received a scholarship grant to study abroad next year and I will be requesting a deferment from whichever law school I attend. Do you all think it would be appropriate for me to email Stanford with my continued interest and information about the scholarship prior to hearing about the waitlist, or do you think that would be frowned upon? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your advice and good luck with your cycles!!

I would wait. If you get dinged it doesn't matter. If you don't, you can let them know then. Just my opinion.

You have a good point. My reasoning was that maybe notification of the scholarship could help prevent a ding

..or make a ding more likely! The adcomm might think "this guy can just apply next year." Idk how reasonable something like that would be, just throwing it out there.

My application went complete in February, so I should expect a rejection sometime in August, I think.

Doesn't stop me from status checking every day.

I think it's highly unlikely that they will allow a WL admit defer because the waitlist is primarily used to balance out the class so it is impossible to know whether or not whatever you bring to the table that they lack in this years class will be likewise deficient in next years

They don't allow WLs to defer. Same with Yale. Not sure about Harvard or the rest of the T14.

Thank you all for the replies. That's why I wanted to see if anyone thought it was worth the gamble. I am definitely going to defer a year for the scholarship, and I am happy with my options as they currently are to schools I've been admitted and can defer from. But Stanford would be a game changer, so would it be worth messaging them that with the off chance the scholarship helps gain admission rather than the waitlist or ding, since I wouldnt be eligible for the waitlist anyway it seems? Yes I can apply again next year as well

Sorry I know this is all rather presumptuous. Just not sure what to do in this situation. I submitted in November but went complete jan 9 if that helps at all

Seems to be that if you are committed to the scholarship offer then regardless of the decision Stanford renders, you will have to withdraw you're application and reapply next year or accept a deferment at another school however I would wait until a decision is rendered and then call the office for official confirmation of the no deferment policy

Bumping this so we can all be anxious tomorrow. So, if we are to assume that they try to stay aligned with their schedule on a year-to-year basis, I'm going to say people should hear news this week. Looking at the thread last year, people received notification of admission on 3/20. Maybe they send out the DLSs, and then they do a small admission wave, and then they go back and do some more DLS (waitlist included)?

I feel like this week will see a large group of acceptances. Getting close to April and there has not been a significant number of acceptances posted on LSN since mid-February.

It is spring break but generally campus offices are open over this break, unlike the winter holidays.

I went complete 11/5/14 and still no DLS, which is weird because I'm almost certainly an auto-ding.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
