Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
I think it would be the same thing as requesting an interview.mohdban wrote:I know GULC asks applicants "not" to request interviews. But as an international applicant (from the middle east), I know they will not invite me for an interview even if they wanted to.
Would it be a good idea to send an email expressing my interest in traveling to DC to interview if they wanted me to interview? Or would this be the same as "requesting" an interview?
Also being an international applicant does not mean they will not invite you for an interview. You can do a phone or Skype interview as well - I doubt they ask anyone outside of D.C. to interview there. I did a phone interview myself.

What part of the Middle East are you in? I live in Qatar and I received an interview invitation this morning.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Has anyone else been able to have their ASW username and password sent to them, but then have the website consider that to be an invalid combination? Keeps happening to me. Have not received anything in the mail yet, so got super excited when it generated log in info for me.
Edit: Went back more carefully through this thread. Verdict seems to be that I should be "cautiously optimistic?" Hopefully it'll work in a few days!

Happened to me too but I was eventually able to log in - I think the fact that you can generate it is good news and if you keep checking it will work soon.WhiskeyAndCupcakes wrote:Yes! What are the rejection/waitlist/acceptance numbers for those who group interview? Does a group interview bode well for your chances?

Ditto for me. Be sure to have your 'why gulc' down though.WhiskeyAndCupcakes wrote:Mine was really informal. My interviewer was super nice. Why law school? A few questions about my resume. And mostly just laid back chatting. I asked a few questions. My interviewer gave me helpful advice.ellewoods817 wrote:Does anyone have information about the alumni interview? I've already gone through this thread and couldn't find too much about the questions that were asked.
I'm between 25% and 50% for LSAT and at 75% for GPA, so the interview isn't for YP purposes.
Don't stress.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2018 Applicants
Given the data on splitters getting a sizable ED bump while the overall ED applicant pool is less successful than the RD applicant pool, I'd guess that people applying ED to GULC are just, on average, significantly weaker applicants than those applying RD and any sort of ED bump Georgetown provides isn't enough to counteract that. This seems to make some sense intuitively as those with marginal T14 prospects at best might be inclined to throw a hail mary ED app Georgetown's way. Anyway, I'm just speculating but I can't think of any other rational explanation for the discrepancy.Scruffy wrote:I'm not a splitter. I don't understand the reasoning behind that though. Wouldn't they want to secure applicants early on that they can count on for paying full tuition? Is Georgetown really wealthy enough as a school that they don't need to worry about that? I always thought that the ED applicants are helping to provide scholarship money for the higher scorers.smccgrey wrote:If you're an LSAT > 75th splitter, there's a boost. I know there's some article out there that claims applying ED hurts you, but I really don't buy that.

That crossed my mind as well but the Spivey article mentions that he controlled for LSAT score and GPA.pamphleteer wrote:Given the data on splitters getting a sizable ED bump while the overall ED applicant pool is less successful than the RD applicant pool, I'd guess that people applying ED to GULC are just, on average, significantly weaker applicants than those applying RD and any sort of ED bump Georgetown provides isn't enough to counteract that.
