Just saw I was dinged last night via e-mail. I probably should have accepted the interview invitation.

Received the acceptance call on Monday, and when I asked about possible scholly money the caller said that information would come out within the next two weeks. Has anyone gotten offers yet?

Everyone has been getting their offer ~7-10 days after acceptance.GoldHattedGatsby wrote:Received the acceptance call on Monday, and when I asked about possible scholly money the caller said that information would come out within the next two weeks. Has anyone gotten offers yet?

Hey does anyone think UT would consider Minnesota a "peer school"? I know they are close in the USNWR but obviously not in the same geographic/legal market. Any chance of successfully using them in the scholarship match?

Re: University of TEXAS c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
It looks as though UT is having just the cycle they were hoping for. The majority of high-end applicants apply early in the cycle, and most schools just hold their breath, hoping that some decent applicants put their applications later in the cycle to fill the gaps. I am noticing applicants with pretty impressive numbers just recently submitting their applications and hearing back.
I have a theory: despite a generally poor cycle for most law schools, schools similar to UT stand a good chance of improving their classes (think LSAT/GPA), or at least maintaining, while other schools are seeing a decline. Of course, even UT has been limiting the size of their classes in recent years.
The reason: UT is in a unique position rank wise. They get applicants that also get accepted to higher ranked schools (like NYU, Penn, etc) but have an incentive to grant larger merit scholarships to beat out such schools. The state of the industry currently provides an added incentive to take money over rank in certain cases like this, where the applicant still has abundant opportunity (UT is a fantastic school with a monopoly in the state and region, containing large legal markets) without the sticker price of NYU or Penn.
What do my fellow TLS brethren say?

I dont think theres anyway Texas raises their medians. They've completely eliminated their 3.5 gpa floor they've had in the past and let alot of splitters in. And alot of 166's have gotten in that wouldnt have in the past. I wouldnt be shocked if the LSAT median drops to a 166.

Re: University of TEXAS c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Yeah there is no way they raise their median and it wouldnt surprise me if their LSAT median dropped to a 166. How many high numbers applicants do you know applying? I wouldnt say TLS is very representative of the application pool.
That said I agree about the merits of taking UT over higher ranked schools.

As a 166 that got in you don't see ME complaining...
ALSO, can I just point out that it is super lame that in-city admits can't take the ASD Segway tour?

Question, for those who missed on picking up on an admission call, did the person leave a voice mail or call back again? Because when trying to call the number back, there was no way to leave a message. It could've been a wrong number though.

I think that my house is going to throw a big party for ASD on that Friday night. We have a very large place across the street from the law school with a kegerator, nice beer pong setup etc... You guys are all invited of course! I'll post details here and in the FB group when I know for sure.

Well that's exciting, count me in! I'll bring chips, and the disappointment that comes from realizing we aren't all super hot Brazilian chicks IRL.WokeUpInACar wrote:I think that my house is going to throw a big party for ASD on that Friday night.
