This is me too. I'll be doing student housing unless I just stumble across something amazing (and even then I'll think it's too good to be true, so I won't pull the trigger on it).
Can I hang out at your apts between classes/leave books there during the day?

I'll help you make the jump off-campus for your 2L year in exchange!

(IF I end up at NYU...)
NYU has lockers in Vanderbilt right?

Question for the New Yorkers:

Where do you find apartments? Craigslist? I've had good experiences w/ Craigslist in other cities (I'm a Bay Area native), but I've been cautioned against using it for NYC apartments.

A friend sent me an invitation to "Quentin's Friends," saying that it's better, but I haven't signed up yet since you have to pay for it after a free trial and I'm still a few months away from looking for a place. Advice?

If you are smart about it Craigslist is fine (its where I found my place), or if you know what neighborhood you are looking in it might be worth just biting the bullet and getting a broker.

Are there specific cut offs (GPA/LSAT) for the distribution of Dean's Scholarships? And what are the amounts available?

Does NYU negotiate at all?

Edit: Also, for those who are interested, I created an NYU/TLS FB group to help us all get to know each other a bit before school starts.

Not sure, but I would let them know your deadline for getting back to other schools.

Just got my financial aid results in. They're not offering me a cent. Hopefully CLS can top that...

Not yet. If Columbia offers me something I'll see if NYU wants to match it.

Gonna have to stop reading this thread. All the apt search talk makes me want to live in NYC too much.

TITCR. if you're going to do manhattan, don't live *NORTH* of central park south. you might as well live in bklyn at that point

again TITCR. you may want to hire a broker especially because you're going to have to deal w/ landlords that won't want to rent to students (because of the lack of income - no, your prospective student loans don't count) and a broker can help you cut through all that.

on that note... if anyone has broker recs on the LES, PM me lol. thanks...

I'm just doing the law apartments. Unsure if I want Mercer or Dag, but now I'm leaning towards a 1 or 2BR in Dag just because of price. Birdlaw, can I come to the parties or am I gonna be that guy on the floor that everyone doesn't invite?

You're obviously invited to the parties. But in exchange, if you live in Dag your place might become the backpack dropoff spot between classes. I'm hoping to get a place in Mercer.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
