How does Stanford's index work? Is it similar in predictability to Columbia's? What is the range of what they tend to accept?

Im getting really upset that LSAC doesnt have my transcript yet. I think the new gpa might push me across the 3.7 line.
I can't beat out 9 out of 10? Sheesh

You can find it at http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com/wp-co ... ograms.htm or on your report to the school from LSAC (LSAC rounds to the nearest tenth). I couldn't tell you how to interpret it with Stanford.... I haven't a clue.CosmoLaw wrote:Where are you guys getting your index calculation and how do interpret it? Excuse me for being obtuse.

need an LSAT to calculate it. The maximum index you can have with a 3.3 is 3.4askyemcdonald wrote:I have a 3.3....what does it mean again?

No I mean a 3.3 index.
What does the index mean in terms of chances for admittance?

Go across and look at all the columns, there should be a percentage of students admitted with an index lower than yours.askyemcdonald wrote:No I mean a 3.3 index.

what column shows your index... is it the "score"? cuz mine range from 3.45 to 125, what do they mean?
btw, for Stanford, it shows a 53% in the at or below category

Your index is only round to 1 decimal on the LSDAS ASR report. I am going off that.
ETA: I don't know if the index formula is published, so I would look at your ASR rather than LSP.

Your index is different for each school depending on how they calculate it. That is why they are all different. You can't compare school to school.CosmoLaw wrote:what column shows your index... is it the "score"? cuz mine range from 3.45 to 125, what do they mean?

3.45 index as is, 3.46 when my updated transcript gets there. I take some comfort in knowing that index doesn't really mean anything at SLS, as long as you have numbers to be competitive in the first place.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
