I am guessing it will be e-mails from here on out. I fowarded my mother the acceptance e-mail and she called me and asked, "Why didn't they call you? I thought they made calls?" I was just happy that I got in.

out of curiosity, did those of you who were accepted change your PS at all for Cal? I've been UR for 1+ months, and I'm regretting not adding at least something to my 2 pager....

I added a page or so, and I've been UR for six weeks. I did feel better getting to say more, though. I love that they let you write more than the other schools.

I changed it after submitted, and updated them with the new one after going complete. So I'd like to think that helped. Went from a 2 pager to a 3 pager, and I focused my IP focus and what Berkeley has to offer me a little more/better.

My PS is almost completely renovated and targeted toward Cal, and I had two special recommenders chosen that are Cal alums write me LoRs that I sent only to Cal. Of course, they don't require LoRs, so I don't know how much stock they put in them, but they're there if they want 'em.

I was accepted last week without any changes to my 2 page PS.

I sent three LORs and 1 evaluation. You will get a good review and all parts will help. I don't know if they are trying up their medians at all but they are probably going to be slow/careful with good applications with lower numbers (like me at Harvard). Don't give up, give it time.

nah, some will probably still hear before the committee review phase then it's committee review for a lot of those who are still waiting (which isnt bad at all). and prolly rejections/WL for the rest. thats about what Dean Tom let on when i met with him.

Yeah, I added some of my diversity statement for other schools in there, and that dovetailed nicely with my little "why Boalt" thing, which was rather different than what I had for my other "why x" essays. TBH I wanted to completely redo it for Boalt, but as it is, I was... kinda late, as I only ended up submitting at the beginning of December.

I think on some level the PS is certainly a YP mechanism, although I did make the point that I didn't want to go to school with a bunch of assholes, and Boalt sounded like a good fit from that standpoint. If you really want to go there, call them up, say "I really want to go to Boalt, can I submit an additional essay talking about that?" Can't hurt unless you say you want to go there for the killer buds.
