More trivia: The reason Rutgers is public is because it fought with Princeton for a land grant back in the 1860s and won. Whether or not Rutgers won in the long run is up for debate...pleadthafif wrote:Not sure if rhetorical but it is public (along with W&M) which definitely hurts its prestige.mornincounselor wrote:Very good!Li'l Sebastian wrote:Rutgers!!!mornincounselor wrote:Trivia time:
Which American law school was chartered in 1766 by King George III?
Originally Queen's College!
Apparently it is one of 9 colleges founded prior to the American Revolution (alongside William and Mary and the original Ivies)
I wonder how come it hasn't risen to the prominence of some of the other universities on that list.

I'm an amorphous amalgamschocolate wrote:It will happen. It just may be less grand in scope, given the facts that I should probably apply to law school at some point and that a substantial part of the thread is now "Post removed."barley wrote:So is this book report never happening?![]()

Some highlights from answers I have worked on thus far:
2. What are the motives for fips' actions?
Whatever the fuck he wants.
4. Which character does the reader most closely identify with? Is there an antagonist (someone in conflict with the protagonist)?
The reader most closely identifies with barley. However, barley is not the protagonist; rather, it is an amorphous amalgam of all the regular posters. The antagonist in that case is any lurker that raises the amalgam's ire. In the game of compendiums, you become the amalgam or you die.
5. Did you like or dislike the compendium? Why or why not?
I like it. It's like having friends (whom I just sit around quietly, absorbing everything they say).
6. What are the core values underlying the quasi-society of the compendium?
A relentless pursuit of the TLS UVA house. A respect of the common neuroticism that binds us all. Unsure.

Ohhh I misread that hahah. Very deep; good work!schocolate wrote:Not exactly. The protagonist of the compendium is the amalgam. You are a subset of that.barley wrote:

Aw, I don't think you're a big loser if you have a bunch of posts on TLS!whacka wrote: Yeah I'm not concerned about being identified by the people who post ITT, I'm more concerned with future classmates knowing I'm a big loser who has a bunch of posts on TLS, which they'd be able to gather from piecing together like two readily apparent details about me

Yep, she's basically one eye away from Leela.schocolate wrote:Oh and
13. Pick a character. What does their avatar say about them? Do you think it was a good choice?
This question became much easier once Hilde changed her avatar to Leela. The aptness of the cartoon characterization makes the new avatar a good choice, but I think it's an especially good choice because it reflects the camaraderie of the compendium. The Leela avatar reflects Hilde's bad-assery as well as her loyalty to her TLS friends.
