Any current Chicago residents want to weigh in on the best place for deep-dish pizza?

Pizzeria Uno & Due, but the Gino's East two blocks from NU law is just about as good and less packed.jfonz wrote:Any current Chicago residents want to weigh in on the best place for deep-dish pizza?

Don't know, the bar scene near Streeterville isn't great. I've never gone drinking there. A NU law student could tell you probably.Drew2010 wrote:Best bar near NU?Desert Fox wrote:Pizzeria Uno & Due, but the Gino's East two blocks from NU law is just about as good and less packed.jfonz wrote:Any current Chicago residents want to weigh in on the best place for deep-dish pizza?

I seem to recall some Food Network special that included a "deep dish" that was actually a dish of pizza sauce/cheese/toppings with crust baked over the top. Hallucination? Urban myth?

Chicago doesn't have Chick-fill-a. I don't live close enough to NU to tell you which BK is better, but I've eaten at the McDonald's a block away that is in a parking structure and it sucks. The only near the red line station is better.Drew2010 wrote:Best Burger King? Best Chick-fill-a?Desert Fox wrote:

Pizzaria Uno is all right.Desert Fox wrote:Disagree, but maybe because I lived very close to a suburban Lou Malnati's and its fucked out for me.fl0w wrote:Lou Malnati's for deep dish.Desert Fox wrote:Pizzeria Uno & Due, but the Gino's East two blocks from NU law is just about as good and less packed.jfonz wrote:Any current Chicago residents want to weigh in on the best place for deep-dish pizza?

yeah, no chick-fill-a. I dunno about BK, but McDonald's you cant go wrong w/ the Rock 'n' Roll McDonalds across from Hard Rock Cafe on the near north side (on Clark between Ohio and Ontario). There's also a nice McDonalds in the Financial district (Clark and Monroe). A nice place called Nick's Fish Market used to be there, but they went out of business. But McDonalds is still in the nice building.

The ginos in the supermarket aren't the same in the restaurant. I probably rate Lou/Gino/Gior all about the same. I'm not even sure if Uno is better or that its reputation sways my opinion.fl0w wrote:Giordano's then? Also very good. Gino's is frozen pizza. you get get them in the supermarket. I will say that for thin crust, you are better off finding your local pizza place and ordering from them.

P J Clarke's is a quick cab South from NU Law. Good food. Movie theater is right there too. So is Lucky Strike bowling alley. I don't go out in streeterville too much though. Chicago is pretty good in that most fun things you want to do are a $10 cab ride away at most. You probably won't really stick to streeterville area. My bet is that you'll spend more time in Old Town.Drew2010 wrote:Best bar near NU?Desert Fox wrote:Pizzeria Uno & Due, but the Gino's East two blocks from NU law is just about as good and less packed.jfonz wrote:Any current Chicago residents want to weigh in on the best place for deep-dish pizza?

Thin crust... actually I just had some good thin crust from a couple of places. What I think is the best is a place called Piece. Delicious. They are sort of out of the way though (in whicker park).Drew2010 wrote:I love thin crust.. mmmmmDesert Fox wrote:Disagree, but maybe because I lived very close to a suburban Lou Malnati's and its fucked out for me.fl0w wrote: Lou Malnati's for deep dish.
Another great food place you'll want to go to (also a little out of the way) is Smoke. AMAZING ribs. Another great rib place is Twin Anchors, and that's a little closer too.

nope. we don't eat veggies here. sorry. You can try Salad Spinners or Subway. There are a few good Indian and Thai places where you can get vegetarian dishes if you want. I can recommend some of those if you like.MirandaHobbes wrote:(m)any good vegetarian restaurants in chicago?
