That was an extremely impressive write up of the facilities at UT, I definitely learned some new things

Also I've lived in most of the cities being bandied about as potentially superior to Austin. I can say, unequivocally and definitively, that Austin is better and it's not even close. That's a fact. /thread

I have lived in Dallas and Houston and spent a bunch of time in Austin because my husband is from there, and I agree that Austin wins as far as just having a great overall vibe. Dallas was a little too pretentious and expensive for me. Houston was kind of the opposite, a bit dirty and just generally blah. Austin has great culture, music, food and a vibrant running community which is important to me. Austin in itself is a huge reason I've been so interested in UT all along for many reasons.

If you got anything out of the last few posts, it should be that clearly every city in Texas thinks it is a best. Alas, to each his own!

It's a rite of passage that literally every UT law applicant thread goes through

Austin is objectively the best though, that's a fact. I have no dog in this race, I'm just here to make sure the record is set straight.

It's cute to watch all y'all pretend like San Antonio isn't the best city. It makes me smile.

As a person who has lived for extended periods of time in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, San Antonio is the best. And I say that as a Houston native. There is no traffic, cost of living is MUCH lower than the other three, there are good restaurants, there are lots of theatre companies/dance companies/touring broadway shows if you're into that, there is Fiesta (like Mardi Gras) where the whole city shuts down for parades and debauchery for a week. Shopping is not as good as Houston or Dallas but still pretty damn good.

Also, I can confirm that Dallas is the worst of the four and also the most proud of itself, which is an annoying combination.

Talking about best city in Texas is like talking about best piece of poo in the toilet.

Can all the Texans in here put aside our differences to prove this guy wrong? lol.

It's weird that I'm getting all defensive, since I'm sooooo excited to get out. But wherever I am, Texas is still home, and still awesome. (Except Lubbock. Lubbock is garbage. LOL.)

I can't decide if I think it's nice or cruel for them to reach out to me like this..
I thought this was in response to the LOCI I snail-mailed in. Happy that I checked the forums before sending that ridiculous response I just drafted. Nope. Will continue to spam LOCI until they let me in now. Take that you listserv robots.

Honestly we should probably all just stop arguing about various places in Texas to begin with, since it's really a matter of personal preference. I wouldn't be caught dead in South Carolina, but there are other people that love it. I apologize for my role in the Texas-argument...

Despite our differences in opinion regarding Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston I feel very comfortable saying that Lubbock is the butthole of Texas.

That comment + your avatar just reminded me of a friend who used to call AT&T Stadium the Cloaca of Texas, normally to the tune of Deep in the Heart of Texas.
