Seriously? So sorry you have to deal with this Lemon, ppl in positions of power should be held to a HIGHER standard of behavior but somehow they always get away with being the biggest of creeps. Hope everything is okay...

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Is there anything you can/would be comfortable doing to let people know what he is capable of? I'm glad you're leaving (though I wish that it could be on your timeline/terms) but I always worry about others coming into the same situation and feeling alone. I know he's the principal and I also don't know what kind of environment you work in but maybe there's someone above him or an outside agency that could do something to spread the bad news?

I have the exact same issue. My boss is seriously unreal in that he is SUCH a pig. I have no idea how to make the comments stop and I am unfortunately working there until school starts August :(. So I feel you
Ugh SORRY to you too. I'm really lucky and have had an awesome work experience - mostly women in my office, the men are all super progressive and feminist. I can't imagine how rough it must be to work in a hostile environment like that... :(

Do you have an HR department or an Office of Dispute Resolution? There has to be some way to report harassment. I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this; no one should be made to feel like they have to put up with harassment in order to just WORK THEIR FREAKING JOB.

Same. My boss is one of the most amazing women I know and our whole team is super progressive, kind, and supportive. I feel so lucky but really, shouldn't that be the norm? Male or female? Just don't make your employees feel uncomfortable? WT actual F people.

And the sucky thing is that you still have to worry about making a clean break but he doesn't have to worry about being terrible to his female employees. But heeeyy, difficult experiences build character, right?...

So sorry to hear this - there should certainly be some sort of HR department (sounds like you're teaching - certainly the district office should have someone looking over this). Good luck! I've been in a male-dominated industry for a while, but thankfully havent had to deal with too many direct jerks.

Thanks so much guys :( I completely agree with you all but it's just such a weird situation to be in. I tried responding in so many different ways and he either gets mad/reminds me that he's my superior or just says I'm too sensitive. I'm thinking I might speak to someone about it at some point but I also know that this type of person shouldn't be worth so much energy. But I definitely don't think my situation is the norm. No one else in my office is like that at all, thankfully!

hi all, update on the situation -- I officially quit my job yesterday and will not be returning. the office manager and I are looking into filing a report with the board of ethics/disciplinary review board. since there is no one at the firm who has power over him, we'll have to go over his head, but this has happened to 4 other girls, so it really needs to stop. anyway, just wanted to post this since there are a few of you going through similar situations -- you are absolutely in your right to quit or speak to someone, NO ONE should put up with that shit for any period of time.

I know we talked about bags for ASW, but are y'all thinking of carrying backpacks next year or nice purses?
