Ahhh, I see. That makes sense - especially given the ASW was so large. Agreed that the lack of known dings is odd - I would have expected them to clear the books by now and, if needed, keep a larger than normal WL.schocolate wrote:Oh, I was coming at it from the perspective of why haven't dings and waitlists gone out. The ASW last week was apparently the largest one they've had, so they've likely admitted enough people as of now and are waiting to see how admits respond after the ASW before sending out waitlists/dings. But it seems unlikely that everyone still waiting is up in the air, so I don't know why they haven't sent out the known dings yet.mdnyc wrote:But they're not admitting anybody, is the thing. No one on TLS or LSN has reported an admit since the 9th or so. I think the most likely explanation is they've been running behind by about a week all season and ran out of time before ASW. My previous wailing aside, I'm pretty sure we'll hear as soon as they get over the hangover from what sounds like some pretty epic karaoke.schocolate wrote:I think Yale's yield was lower than usual last year, and the gender balance was thrown off as well, so it seems plausible that they're trying to be more cautious this year. But I don't find that to be an entirely satisfactory explanation.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
It doesn't make any sense to me either. I get that there's a slightly larger pool of higher scoring applicants to pick from this year, but that isn't Yale's entire focus. There's got to be a bunch of sub-10 FR scorers who flat-out stand no chance of admission that they're just hanging onto for whatever reason.

Are they really going to drag this into 4/20?

I guess so. By this time last year the waves were done, so we're now in uncharted territory. Here be dragons.clovis wrote:Are they really going to drag this into 4/20?

They announced the last decisions on April 27 last year.

Yeah, but there wasn't a wave of decisions reported on TLS or LSN after the 16th, and I'm almost certain there's a wave's worth of dings and WL left.schocolate wrote:They announced the last decisions on April 27 last year.

Question. When people have updated their profiles for Yale and other schools do you usually get confirmation that updates were received?

Good morning, citizens. It has been 11 days since the last reported acceptance, about 5 weeks since the last reported ding and over a year since the last reported waitlist. You may commence with your daily ritual of speculations...now.

Maybe we're part of an AB test of some sort. How late can Yale push us without us withdrawing? And we're in the variant!schocolate wrote:I just want my ding.

Called admissions today to make sure an update to my file was received. Not a good experience.

Long sighs, clear annoyance, and then promptly being hung up on after I was told that my update was received.
