Kinda. I got an e-mail from them this week talking about a packet I should have received earlier, but that was the first e-mail I had from them admitting to my acceptance. It came about 2 weeks after the packet.

I got my folder via mail today! It says I have been accepted for summer 2014. I remember on my application I checked the box to be considered for both. Does this mean that I didn't get in to the fall program?

I would PREFER the fall, but could make summer work...

You should talk to the admissions office. I think they admit you specifically to one or the other, and since you said that you were OK with summer start they might say "well, it's summer or nothing." But Michigan also is full of nice people, so if you ask nicely it might work out.

When I was applying I very unclearly stated that I wanted to be considered for all terms (summer 14, fall 14, and fall 15). They emailed me a couple times to get clarification and I eventually told them to consider me for fall 14 to make things simpler. My admission letter said fall 14, but the dean scribbled in a handwritten note telling me I can let them know if I want to switch and they'd be happy to have me anytime. I dont think I was an outstandingly strong candidate but they were/are willing to give me some leeway so you should definitely try!

You could call and ask, but since they admit you for a specific term I wouldn't get your hopes up about the possibility of a switch. It's definitely acceptance for the term specified.

My impression, both from the A2Z blog and friends currently at michigan, is that the admissions team tries to put you in with folks that they believe will 'fit well' with you. So that might be worth taking into consideration, too. I don't know how TRUE it is, but it's definitely a prevailing myth on campus.

Did they really? That's kind of funny, actually. I'm guessing that means it's because they overfilled the section?

Personally, I kind of like the idea of summer start, if for no other reason than it means I don't have to sweat through another D.C. summer.
