I started replying to something else in another thread but accidentally posted it here and then deleted it. The "oops" was me being a dumb and posting on my phone and that causing me to mess up.JohnMarshall17 wrote:Is there another thread for the question above?BigZuck wrote:Oops, wrong thread

Do you all think reverse splitters would get any scholly offer from UCLA? I'm very tempted to go this cycle (if admitted), but my LSAT is roughly in the 25 percentile with a 4.0 GPA. I don't think I'm willing to go this cycle if they wouldn't offer me anything. Should I withdraw and retake?

Why withdraw? If you get in and aren't happy with the money you get take the June LSAT. If you don't increase your score and still want to wait it out because you think you could do better, then back out or see if you can defer(although I am unsure if they will offer you more money after deferring).bruin91 wrote:Do you all think reverse splitters would get any scholly offer from UCLA? I can use my June score to negotiate with them? I didn't know that...Dmini7 wrote:Why withdraw? If you get in and aren't happy with the money you get take the June LSAT. Zero leverage? Really? Anyone else's thoughts on the matter? June LSAT and scholly negotiation? I think I'd be very willing to withdraw. That isn't even a strategy tactic. It's legitimate. And I feel like if I retook, I'd hit their median or higher. I just don't want to push everything back a year...

Zero leverage was an exaggeration. You can pull the withdrawal card, but that's pretty much all I can think of. I could be mistaken or missing something, though. I, personally, am absolutely not willing to put this off for another year, so I haven't given it much thought. I would go absolutely insane if I had to delay yet again.bruin91 wrote:

Re: UCLA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
That is pretty true, you lack leverage, unless your score pushes you above their median or 75th, I don't see the change giving you enough of a boost. With that said, UCLA loves high GPA, I would be surprised if they did not give you money. Especially since it is your UG.shntn wrote:Well, kinda.bruin91 wrote:I can use my June score to negotiate with them? I didn't know that...Dmini7 wrote:Why withdraw? In other words, do you recommend a retake? I think I could try to hit a 169 but I'm not about to commit to this unless it's worth it. Or should I wait to hear back before I start studying?

It really depends on your own mindset. Nearly everyone on TLS will say retake. How much money would it take for you to attend. It wouldn't hurt to study while you await scholarship offers. The thing is, if you score a 169 with your GPA, you would be looking at a full ride at UCLA and possibly a changed mindset of going to a T14.
Edit: I just looked at mylsn. And UCLA is stingier than I thought(which is surprising, because I knew they were stingy). I suggest you use it yourself. A 169 would open up many more doors, and apparently UCLA doesn't like reverse splitters as much as I thought.

So might as well retake and see where it takes me? I'm guessing this means you retract the statement about scholly being a probable thing for meDmini7 wrote:bruin91 wrote:That is pretty true, you lack leverage, unless your score pushes you above their median or 75th, I don't see the change giving you enough of a boost. Re: UCLA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
It is hard to tell. I can't really look at mylsn at the time hence why I suggested you did it, but I assume you are not a Urm and your LSAT was 163-165. Wen I did that and used a 3.9-4.0 GPA, there were actually a lot of dings. This cycle is different so I really can't give you an accurate guess. Best bet is to look at other people with your numbers to see how much they got, or use a higher ranked school or a peer like USC's scholarship as leverage.bruin91 wrote:So might as well retake and see where it takes me? Re: UCLA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
hmm, yeah, I saw dings, but I saw an offer of 45k and 60k (total) from two users on LSN. I guess it won't hurt to study a little and keep it fresh in my memory until my outcome/offer(if any). I just want to know whether I could use a higher June score as leverage to up my scholly. Ideally, of course, I'd want to matriculate this fall and take advantage of a higher score.Dmini7 wrote:It is hard to tell. Has anyone gotten in this week so far? Are they still doing phone calls? I'm hoping to hear back soon since I got in to USC weeks ago and applied to both at the same time.

How long did it take to get your financial aid package? Was accepted 2/20, send need-access the same day, and sent FAFSA in January. Heard about scholarship on 2/20 also.
