I think the email said for scholarship info I'd have to wait longer. Anyone know how much longer that is from their experience? I'm definitely not interested in Duke at sticker.
Thanks!
You don't sound very interested in Duke at all actually.
Should be 10 calendar days. Couple days before complete. I'd say you should have your decision in 2 weeks or so. We are all waiting on scholarship info at this point. Hopefully January or February for those who applied early. FAFSA and Need Access, etc.
Thanks for the info! I'll expect 2 weeks-ish.
It's not a lack of interest in Duke, it's a lack of certainty in general and a rational uneasiness at the excessive cost of a legal education, however prestigious. I apologize if I seemed overly blunt.

I apologize for not following this forum more closely but is the PT slowing the timeframe for RD candidates?

Iirc there's been one nonPT rd decision reported so far in this thread, so I think we can safely say the answer is yes

Ahh... I was thinking of someone else, not you. Cheerios also got in non PT RD back on page 43.
Sorry to burst your special snowflake bubble, eich.

nigerian22 wrote:I have spent some time interacting with Duke admissions officers. It is all retail. Duke does YP, so you need to give them the impression that you really want to come. Those of you who have been PR'd with 75th percentile/+ stats (one or both) just write a persuasive statement ("Why I wish to be a Duke Lawyer") and you will probably get great news soon
Unless you're a superstar with 178/3.99/PhD/Rhodes/URM/Military (in which case they will actively woo you!), you are better off genuinely telling Duke why you will seriously attend.
Duke's employment numbers are no joke -- they are very high and so are the clerkship numbers. Their dean is a former federal judge of distinguished ability. I know several people who turned down CCN and one even H to attend Duke.
Here's the other fabulous thing about Duke: small class size!

Haha no worries; I am just surprised it's only been a few. I feel kinda dumb for agonizing to my mom that they must hate me the day before I got in.

So, take hope waiters - it will happen!
I'm excited to visit (again) but sad I can't make it to the ASW ( or any ASWs for that matter). But some warm weather in Feb will do much to draw me in.

Awesome, congrats! This news ended my happy break from status checking and worrying about hearing back. Good to know I should move into a 24/7 state of anxiety.

Honestly not trying to be a jerk but do you actually read any of the threads you post in? And I'm not talking about the whole thing, just like a page or two. You ask a ton of questions that are like common knowledge for anyone who participates here.
To answer your question: not a single person has heard about money. You fill out need access and Fafsa first and they aren't reviewing that stuff until this month at the earliest.

i've read the past 20 pages or so but not all 50 I apologize. I know grant money is not coming until February or so but I thought someone mentioned that Mordecai invites are already being given out?
also has anybody else here gone complete pt in the neighborhood of 1/4 and have you heard anything?

To my knowledge, Mordecai invites have gone out and there will be no more invitations. All other scholarship requests must go through the financial aid process that is sent to admitted applicants. Duke combines Merit + Need, so unless you want not to be considered for need-based aid, you have to complete FAFSA, Need Access, etc. to even be considered for merit money.
ETA: This is all on the Duke Law website. Do some research!

Got it - thank you. Whitney - where were you able to find that all mordecai invites go out prior to Jan? And for those that were invited, how were you informed and how long after admission? Thank you everybody!

I submitted all of my finaid materials (FAFSA, Need Access, and Duke app.) yesterday, I'll let you know if I hear anything since they say they review it all on a rolling basis.

You could put in estimated info then update later, especially if salary looks the same as last year. Might be too complicated with the wife and kids factoring into the equation however, I don't know.
