That's too bad. Pretty much any non-profit that's worth a crap is at odds with the Catholic Church.webbylu87 wrote:Damn, good thing I didn't apply. Anyone else notice that your eligibility for the the ND LRAP is partially based on whether or not you work for an organization which doesn't contradict the teachings of the Catholic Church? Guess that means no Planned Parenthood in the future...FunkyJD wrote:A friend of mine who's a Catholic ND ugrad alum says that non-Catholics are just fine at ND, but that Catholics who aren't considered to be faithful enough to the Church's teachings can get a little grief -- along the lines of, they are apparently held to a higher moral standard. I thought that was interesting.

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
OK, back to Indiana.
It looks like IU's basketball team is going to suck for longer than I originally thought. Matt Carlino, a 4-star junior who had previously committed to IU recently withdrew his verbal from IU and gave it to UCLA, and now it looks like he's going to graduate from HS early in order to go to UCLA next year. Ugh.

They've made a decision, they just haven't told us we're all getting rejected yet.hiromoto45 wrote:What's the hold up on decisions?

I do, college basketball is probably my favorite sport outside of baseball. But IU is just so insufferable right now that it's borderline impossible to maintain interest in them.Vincent Vega wrote:Lame - no one cares about basketball.

Well, you go to a school that made the tournament this year. Not only has my school never made the NCAA Tournament, it has never even been to a conference championship game before. I'm ready for Big Ten basketball.MBZags wrote:I do, college basketball is probably my favorite sport outside of baseball. I think you might be thinking of Wisconsin and Northwestern, and none of the others.lawhawk wrote:Ugh..Big Ten Athletics. There is nothing worse to watch. No no I'm including all 11 teams (except maybe Michigan football). Also, maybe not Northwestern because they aren't even big white guys.

Ohio State, as well. As for Indiana, you wouldn't necessarily say they are good right now, but I also don't think you could say they are a bunch of slow, big white guys - at least not most.

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
Well regardless of the players' actual skin color nothing puts me to sleep like a 49-40 (or worse) basketball game. It's boring and slow. And the football is even worse, and the baseball is even worse than the football. Watch an SEC football game and then watch a big 10 game and tell me objectively which one was more entertaining. But whatever. I'm extremely glad I didn't go to a big 10 undergrad as far as athletics are concerned (UNC here).
and regardless of all of this I would like a decision one way or the other so my cycle can be complete!

I'm not a Big Ten homer by any means (I pretty much hate everyone in the conference sports-wise), but the teams in the ACC and Big Ten both averaged about 68 points per game during conference play. In the Big Ten, the defenses gave up around 64 points per game whereas the ACC defenses gave up 68 points per game. Just sayin'.

I hate the Big 10 (in college fb, not college bb; I don't care about bb). Ohio State/Michigan hype makes me want to gouge my eyes out. As much as my 800 WL's
.

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
Duke was the diamond in the rough in the ACC this year. Usually the Big Ten doesn't hold a candle to the ACC but this year that just wasn't true. Not that it necessarily proves my point, but this was the first year ever that the Big Ten beat the ACC in their ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
