Thanks for today's email reminding me to apply for the ABA Legal Scholarship for minorities. It means so much more that you thought of me for this scholarship after rejecting me on 12/15.

In the field of law, being Jewish most certainly is the farthest one can be from a minority

In fact, if you read the book Outliers, there's a whole chapter on how being a Jewish immigrant who grew up working in the garment district of NYC is a very common background for a lot of the big names now - key partners at Skadden, etc. It's quite fascinating, actually.MissLucky wrote:haha fair enoughdakatz wrote:In the field of law, being Jewish most certainly is the farthest one can be from a minority

Re: BC Law 2010
Did anyone else get a message from BC Financial Aid with the title subject "ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship" ?
I find it particularly odd in that (a) it is for racial and ethnic minorities and (b) BC rejected me.
Weird? Anyone else?

I think they sent it to everyone just to make people aware - it's an ABA scholarship, not BC specific. I also got it, and am pretty damn white, but I also haven't heard from them.empire84 wrote:Did anyone else get a message from BC Financial Aid with the title subject "ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship" ?

I hadn't checked my status checker since mid-December, when it said Decision Mailed - US mail etc., etc. I was held for further review (until Feb. 26 I think it was).
Now it says "Decision Status: Decision Rendered, Decision Status Date: 12/8/2009".
Is this what other people who were held have?

Yes, I was held for further review too, and that's the same thing I have on my status checker.utcris410 wrote:I hadn't checked my status checker since mid-December, when it said Decision Mailed - US mail etc., etc. I was held for further review (until Feb. 26 I think it was).

it runs very often...up until 1230 AM. The shuttle ride is about 5-10 minutes from BC law to BC undergrad. From there the T is about 1 min away.AlanShore wrote:does anyone know is BC requires a car if you don't live within walking distance from the law school? i know there is a shuttle from the T.. does it run pretty often?

I was just up in Boston and the T runs pretty often to Chestnut Hill and Newton. I think it would be totally doable without a car. The only thing with the T is that it shuts down at night (I think as early as midnight on some days) so during finals that may be a problem. Not like NYC where the subway is always going.

The last trains on the T are always some time between midnight and 1 a.m., varies depending on the line and station. (I think they all set out around 12:15.)sand87632 wrote:AlanShore wrote:does anyone know is BC requires a car if you don't live within walking distance from the law school? i know there is a shuttle from the T.. does it run pretty often?

Interesting lol.
A comment at abovethelaw.com points out the harm : 'Way to set an example for all of our daughters who are trying to get somewhere in this world with their BRAIN.' However, in her Barstool Sports interview, Reynolds said she wants to use her law-school education to be a stay-at-home mom, not a lunching pad to a successful legal career.

Re: BC Law 2010
Question:
Decision Rendered as of yesterday. Status checker says it will arrive via snail mail in the next few days. Does BC mail all decisions, or just WL's and Acceptances? I know some, like UMN, will email dings and mail admits. Also, I received an email today from the BC financial aid office about applying for some scholarship. Should I take this as a good sign? I'm below median, so I didn't have high hopes. I don't want to get ahead of myself. Any admits want to chime in?
Edit: Just read some of the above posts. Looks like I should remain pessimistic. Also, I'm very white.
