Yeah you might get the email invite, but I'm almost certain you won't have the interview during Thanksgiving week. I got my invite yesterday and my interview is scheduled for the Monday after Thanksgiving.driveshaft wrote:I don't remember hearing about JR1s during Thanksgiving week, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time for you with those stats.ali & ali wrote:Does Harvard still send out JR1s and do interviews during Thanksgiving week, or is it just JR2s? Even while living in one of the most unstable countries in the world, waiting for an email from Harvard is still one of the most exciting/nerve-wracking things ever!

I don't know about TLS, but around 60 people got into Harvard before Thanksgiving last year on LSN.DoubleChecks wrote:if you're still sick w/ the flu, you could make all of us feel a lot better by going through LAST yr's TS1 thread to see how many got TS1's for a comparable time...then see if thats around 66. if yes, all our fears about an increase in JR1's (but same # of JR2's) will seem unwarranted...lol.cciti65 wrote:Because I'm a sad individual stuck at home with the flu, I've taken my own personal obsessive compulsive habits to the next level and gone through all of the posts on this thread, as well as the Harvard Phone Interview stats thread, and the URM board. Have found 66 (give or take a couple) unique references to JR1s being conducted or planned. Not sure if this is useful information at all, but it does throw into question my previous assumption that TLS represents about 10% of the total applicant population. No way they have conducted 660 phone interviews this early in the cycle, even if they are increasing the number of interviews they are giving out.
Do what you will with the info. Hopefully it will provide comfort to some (though at this point I suppose only JR2s can do that)...

Re: Harvard 2010!
there's no way that we have 740+ active (i.e. registered and posting) members on TLS who are Harvard applicants. We're simply overrepresented in a big way because we're more likely to be qualified (i.e. fewer "screw it, it's Harvard" moonshots) and more likely to submit early.Core wrote:It's likely that the TLS population makes up a significant portion of the JR1 group while still making up 1-10% of the total applicant pool.cciti65 wrote:Because I'm a sad individual stuck at home with the flu, I've taken my own personal obsessive compulsive habits to the next level and gone through all of the posts on this thread, as well as the Harvard Phone Interview stats thread, and the URM board. Moving into blatant speculation...I venture that there have been about 300-400 interviews given or scheduled, which would mean that TLS members have represented around 15-20% of interviews to this point.

For selfish reasons I really hope this isn't the case! Can't imagine they will make 300 - 400 offers this early in the cycle...soullesswonder wrote:Moving into blatant speculation...I venture that there have been about 300-400 interviews given or scheduled, which would mean that TLS members have represented around 15-20% of interviews to this point.

yeah, the more I think about, the more I think the number is closer to 300. I can see them making 270 offers by early Dec (my estimation of the JR2s for the most recent JR1 emails). Like I said, though, blatant speculation.cciti65 wrote:For selfish reasons I really hope this isn't the case! Sept 15 - Nov 5 applicants: 300 offers
Nov 6 - Jan 1 applicants, plus holdovers from earlier pool: 350 offers
Jan 1 - deadline, plus holdovers: 180 offers

Well, first of all HLS admits ~830/yr. But, more importantly, the data seems to suggest that a very large percentage of applciants applies on or after Jan 1st, so I doubt they'd reserve only 180 acceptances for that group.

I think my numbers add up to 830?
Also, are you referring to that LSAC graph? (or wherever it came from?) I think those statistics are for law school applications as a whole. I assume, though of course this is just speculation, that at top schools the percentage of people who apply after January 1 is far smaller. And, with rolling admissions, the percentage admitted after January 1 is probably also smaller.

I don't understand the point of this post. Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday thus rendering this post totally useless.emptybee wrote:I went back and looked at when Thanksgiving actually was. We're looking at an average of about 2 days before Thanksgiving, so this year D-Day should be Tuesday.

Where did you get that number? Mine is only 59

I also looked through the URM threads and counted references people made to friends who had JR1s. May not be 100% accurate.TheLuckyOne wrote:Because I'm a sad individual stuck at home with the flu, I've taken my own personal obsessive compulsive habits to the next level and gone through all of the posts on this thread, as well as the Harvard Phone Interview stats thread, and the URM board. so far i just like the comment about how last yr on LSN there were ~60 TS2's before thanksgiving...so if there have been 60-70 JR1's on TLS so far, and we're assuming those on LSN and TLS are somewhat of the same ilk (and more than likely many are on both), it looks good

If I'm not mistaken, I do think there has been one 169. Crackberry got one with a 170. And there have been multiple 171s who have gotten one.Eigenvalue A wrote:Anyone with below 170 get a JR1?
