This got lost in the Hammy/Butler wave of 2016, so I'm just going to repost. What do you guys think?
My letter also included this language. Not sure quite what to make of it either, but I figured I would wait until the official packet came in the mail to see if there was any more specific guidance with that. I think this may have been the boilerplate language for this round of admits not being considered for a big-name scholly so I doubt we're the only ones who got it, but's let stay in touch re: what to do!
Yeah I got that blurb on my letter too and I was all confused about what they wanted me to do as well... But I agree that waiting for the official packet is a good idea!

I really doubt the Butlers/Hamiltons are all gone. None of the January interview people were included in that wave so far as I could tell and I find it hard to believe they just disliked everyone. People in last year's thread were getting them well into March as well. Just relax.

Congrats on the admit!!!!!
I think its a no to the big ones, but maybe the smaller ones are still in play? Im not entirely sure how general merit awards work with Columbia.
Did you just get this email or is this from yesterday?

Congrats! Sounds like you will have big choices in your future! Mind if I ask if your status checker has changed as well?

I was. I sent fall grades to them via email but they accepted me before they were updated to LSAC

Is anyone doing the March 2-3 visit in conjunction with NYU's March 3-4 one?

Thank you all so much!!! I'm so relieved. Finally the constant stress pain in my chest is gone. Now I can wait out the rest of my cycle in peace.

Hopefully that means good things for those of us who did that but are still waiting!

Congrats! Me, too. Exact same thing. Got the admission letter with the Butler offer in the mail, didn't get any email. I am pretty confused about how Columbia decides which way to admit which people, but I ain't complaining. Happy day.
ETA: I did not interview.

Hilde this is awesome news!!!!!
Just a reminder - Harvard's need-based aid + the lower Boston COL might still make it a clear winner over a Butler....
