Re: UF Class of 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Did anyone's cost of attendance change from yesterday? It said like 34,000isj and now it says 20,000ish, and now it is saying my needs are over met. Just curious.

So anyone have any idea the likelihood of getting off the WL?

There will be a small trickle of offers as people turn down a seat. After seat deposit's are due, there will probably be a wave of offers go out after deposits are not paid.

If you're in town for ASD, make sure you hit the bars tonight. Should be a lot of people out.

10 people got in off the waitlist last year. No idea how many were waitlisted.CKgator12 wrote:So anyone have any idea the likelihood of getting off the WL?

What does everyone's cost of attendance say? Do they deduct scholarships directly from it.

Mine was ~$40k with in state tuition being ~$24k. It does not cost anywhere near $40k to live in Gainesville for a year lol. I never know how they get these figures.Gotallanswers wrote:What does everyone's cost of attendance say? Do they deduct scholarships directly from it.

I did. Too bad we have a bad home schedule.
. I'll probably end up selling most of the games unless my block gets really good seats.

Where do you see your estimated cost of attendance? Have they sent out estimated award letters? Is there a site to log into? I don't think I've seen anything along these lines.sofl_law wrote:Mine was ~$40k with in state tuition being ~$24k. It does not cost anywhere near $40k to live in Gainesville for a year lol. Re: UF Class of 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I applied right before the admission deadline and just received my letter of acceptance yesterday! Just like when I received my acceptance from FSU, I'm struggling on deciding to go to UF (which I favor over FSU) over a lower ranked school where tuition would be virtually nothing. I'm paying for law school all on my own through loans so taking on a huge debt to go to UF is scary, although its the school I've always wanted to attend. I want to work somewhere in the southeast, ideally Tampa. I'm in at Ole Miss for 3,000 a year and UF is most likely going to be in-state ticket price. Anyone have a similar situation, what factors went in to your decision? And any other suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Employment stats are comparable at both. I am in a similar situation, although I like my alternative better than yours (even though it will cost me significantly more and about the same as UF). Ultimately, I have no desire to live and work in Mississippi, but maybe you do. I would swallow the pill and take UF, but I don't know enough about your situation. $3k a year is very, very cheap. Are there stips attached to that? I think you would have to pretty much accept that the degree from Ole' Miss is going to keep you in Mississippi. Of course, this is not a 100% outcome, but I think it is a most likely one.zhgolf23 wrote:I applied right before the admission deadline and just received my letter of acceptance yesterday! The stip is good academic standing, which makes the offer so appealing. I went to ASD last week and Mississippi was pretty neat and Oxford is one best places I've ever been (got to love southern accents), but I've always lived in small towns and rural areas so I'm used to it. However, the kicker is that I want to work in corporate law or at least use my degree in business. My best friends an investment banker in Tampa and I have a few other connections in corporate law their so that's why I'm thinking I should just take on the debt at UF and hopefully the job I get will make it worth it.

I just looked at the supplement section at the library today. And it is pretty good. Each topic has like 3-5 hornbooks and all the supplements where there. Any reason why no one is using those and still buying their own?

I really liked the location's atmosphere (as opposed to some of the other schools I was looking at) I thought the faculty was extremely open and engaged, and I thought the facilities were great. It just seemed like the perfect fit for me. Especially as a FL resident; UF's reputation is definitely very well regarded.

WLed. At least this makes FSU an easier decision.
