So did I. wtf NYU? Who is this thing going to? Did anyone hear in the affirmative for the Furman?
Also, email also said all named scholarship notifications have gone out.

Looks like all NYU scholarship finalists have been selected. I, sadly, was not one of them. Congrats to the finalists!

They don't know what they're missing. If it makes you feel better, I have heard that the Furman typically doesn't get awarded to incoming students. It's usually given to 2Ls after they're already there. :/
P.S. I just withdrew.

Ohhhh. So you apply for the Furman after you've already at the law school? I had absolutely no idea that was done, but it makes sense then why no incoming people would get it.
PS- Looks like your decisions just got a hell of a lot easier! Good for you!

Yikes. What are the time stamps? Looks like they're going out one by one.

Yeah, I'm not even sure why they let incoming people apply for it. I understand that they might worry that most incoming people don't know whether they'll want to do academia, but surely some of us do! The decision will be even easier once Yale finally cuts me loose!

Yea...the false hope is not appreciated. They could easily just make that a scholarship where only 1Ls apply and that would've been the end of it.
Also, had I known this I would've applied to the other named scholarships. I figured I fit the Furman best so I only applied to that...but if I had known this I totally would've applied to RTK.

It also costs 1/3 less to fund rising 2Ls.

1L chiming in to let you all know that this is correct. Some incomers have Furmans; most are awarded 1L summer.

Thanks! I had no idea.
I totally would've applied to the other scholarships had I known this was the case. Ugh!

Aren't you allowed to apply to as many as you'd like?

Yea, but since my interests lined up with the Furman, I thought it would be best to just apply to the one that I was interested in. I thought about applying broadly, but didn't think it made much sense when one of the scholarships fit me. Oh well.

Any ideas as to when financial aid decisions will come in for those that were dinged for the named scholarships?

Does anyone know when in the year NYU is done sending out decisions? I submitted in October, been under review since 11/22 and it's been radio silence since. I've heard back from everywhere else so I just want to start being able to make decisions!

Got dinged for Anbryce and Furman. Got my scholarship (Dean's 50/60K) last week. In the finaid pdf, it stated that the amt listed is a final calculation that included the dean's and the named scholarships. Basically gave me a heads up that I was out of the running for the named ones. Still happy with my aid (I was an ED applicant).

When I applied in 2009, NYU was the first school I applied to back in October. And they were the last school to get back to me. Wasn't until early April that they finally rejected me, and they wouldn't even help me out by getting a decision to me before the decision deadlines of other schools.
I should add that I now attend NYU as a transfer, and the administration is great, so the sour taste left in my mouth from the exorbitant waiting during my initial admissions cycle has faded away.

I applied to a named scholarship but still have not heard anything back positive or negative. Should I assume I didn't get it? Do they email everyone to let them know if they have not been selected? Just wondering if there is anyone out there with the same situation and maybe they aren't done making offers yet?

I am in the same situation. However, I have no information on where they are in the process. Sort of just lost for now...

To people who *have* gotten named scholarship interview requests- did the request come by mail, email, or phone? A friend of mine hasn't heard anything yet and was curious.

I am in the same situation as well and I contacted their financial aid office earlier today to inquire about that. They said they are working on trying to finalize Dean merit scholarship decisions in the next few days and should have them sent out (I believe by email) early next week

ssteiner, I think most people hear by phone. I got an email, but I don't live in the U.S.
