Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I have been UR since 10/31, with no change in UR date. I've been accepted to higher-ranked schools but I have strong reasons for preferring Duke, so I've started thinking about my LOCI.amc987 wrote:I have been UR since 11/14. I am RD not PT. I think we still have some chance of acceptance, though. I'm thinking/hoping Duke is like UVA, where there seems to be no consistent relationship at all between date of submission and date of acceptance. Since there are so few Duke RD applicants with good numbers on TLS, it's really hard to know.

What's a standard turn around? I went complete 12/1, and havent heard anything since, checker just reads complete. Pretty much at the 25th for GPA, but well above the 75th for LSAT

Re: Duke c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Not exactly. Did you write a "Why Duke?" supplemental? The consensus tends to be that if you write a solid LOCI expressing real interest in attending, then you'll have a good chance of gaining admission. There is, in fact, a separate "wait list."ekbrown09 wrote:Okay, just got the email saying I'm on the "Priority Reserve list", that's the same as the waitlist, right?

Eh... you'll have to hope someone else can answer that for you. I don't really know. I'd think you could send it ASAP at this point given that they've actually assigned you as priority reserve, but I'm no expert.ekbrown09 wrote:Good to know! No, I didn't write a "Why Duke?"... and when should I send out that LOCI?potl wrote:Not exactly. Did you write a "Why Duke?" supplemental? seems like the email informing you of priority reserve should say something? it also seems intuitively like now would be a fine time to do it but I think this might be one of the cases where calling to find out would help.
but I dont really know anything haha! anyway best of luck!

I also got PRL'ed. The email said/recommended that you send in, among other things and if applicable, a LOCI. So I'm starting on that now and plan on emailing that in asap. I guess I'd be considered a splitter at Duke, with a GPA that's just below the 25th and an LSAT that's right at the 75th.

Holy crap, just got an acceptance e-mail!
First reply this cycle and it was from PT (I know, I'm sorely behind) so I can rest a bit easier knowing I have -somewhere- to go next year. ahhhh! I wasn't expecting a reply until January because I didn't go complete until 12/15.
edit: I did write a Why Duke essay.
