They historically come before
Lets neurotically speculate about why this change occurred instead of pretending to be lawyers.

Haha my mom would be pleased to be considered "high-powered"
Regardless, I consented to them contacting her. Doesn't mean that it wasn't a prank or a mistake, though...the paranoia returns...

First off, this doesn't apply to private schools (most likely), and second, it deals with education records, which could quite possibly be totally different from what we're talking about. I didn't read through that, I just glanced at it, but I doubt it applies.
Since these are all accredited institutions that receive federal funding, it absolutely applies to them. Admissions decisions also qualify as education records.
Does accredited mean they receive federal funding? Also, how do you know admissions decisions qualify as education records?
Also, I really don't give a fuck.
I shouldn't have said accredited because that really doesn't matter here. But basically because they receive federal funding this law applies to them. Admissions decisions would be considered non-directory information, which is part of the educational record. This information must not be released to anyone, including parents of the student, without the student's prior written consent.
This can all be found on the internet
I don't really care either. I just think it's interesting.

I mean, it does say that private schools generally aren't subject to FERPA, so I think making the assumption that it does is probably not a great one to be making. But whatever.

No, it says, "Private and parochial schools at the
elementary and secondary levels generally do not receive such funding and are, therefore, not subject to FERPA."
If an institution receives federal funding it's subject to FERPA.
Regardless, I hope we get more decisions today one way or another.

b) No idea about auto-admit stuff, but you're definitely not auto-waitlist. I was 170/3.84 with multiple LSATs (one of which was frighteningly low). GL, I'm sure you'll have an awesome cycle either way

Based on LSN it looks like decisions were not sent out on consecutive days, so we might have to wait a day or two before getting the next batch of DLSs?
I guess if someone was curious enough they could check last year's thread to try to corroborate the info

Even if you admit it, its incredibly confusing. I thought you were Yeags until I read this. So unless you preface every post with "I am not Yeags" I will probably remain confused

Too lazy to read names.

Edit: submitted 11/15, under review 11/28.

Well I guess you can disregard my previous statement lol. Let's hope it's RD as well and not just ED.
I guess 2pm is the time.

From what I can tell with a quick glance at last year's NYU thread (page 30ish-52), first status changes went out on Friday, 12/3 but more changed on 12/6. I think I remember seeing both RD and ED changing. It's hard to tell whether it is consecutive business days or it was just spaced out because of the weekend
Edit: sorry, messed up some of the dates

Yessir let's hope so. Last year they updated status checkers on Friday 12/3 and then again on Monday 12/6. The thread went crazy after that and it's hard to see exactly what happened.

Thanks for doing that research! Did you get any indication of how many days following those people started to hear back on whether they were admitted?

Thanks Boston_NYG2245. I think at least one of the people who applied around 11/15 saw their status checker date change to 11/4 yesterday!

So no RD movement today either? I guess this means that last year's cycle isn't going to be that useful in predicting when decisions are going out this year.

jk I just wanted a moment of NYU avatar-ing without having to resize
