It is very typical that high-powered alumni of elite schools are informed of positive admissions decisions when their kin applies. My undergraduate institution certainly does this, as do other members of the Ivy League, Stanford, etc.

First off, this doesn't apply to private schools (most likely), and second, it deals with education records, which could quite possibly be totally different from what we're talking about. I didn't read through that, I just glanced at it, but I doubt it applies.

Since these are all accredited institutions that receive federal funding, it absolutely applies to them. Admissions decisions also qualify as education records.

No, it says, "Private and parochial schools at the elementary and secondary levels generally do not receive such funding and are, therefore, not subject to FERPA."

If an institution receives federal funding it's subject to FERPA.

Regardless, I hope we get more decisions today one way or another.

i may be being neurotic but no mailing address has updated on my status checker. i have not updated at all since i went under review 11/30. i feel like this is a bad sign?? RD. im probably a guaranteed waitlist anyways (171, 3.8x) but id rather be crushed in a few days.

b) No idea about auto-admit stuff, but you're definitely not auto-waitlist. I was 170/3.84 with multiple LSATs (one of which was frighteningly low). GL, I'm sure you'll have an awesome cycle either way

I guess if someone was curious enough they could check last year's thread to try to corroborate the info

I guess if someone was curious enough they could check last year's thread to try to corroborate the info

From what I can tell with a quick glance at last year's NYU thread (page 30ish-52), first status changes went out on Friday, 12/3 but more changed on 12/6. I think I remember seeing both RD and ED changing. It's hard to tell whether it is consecutive business days or it was just spaced out because of the weekend

Yessir let's hope so. Last year they updated status checkers on Friday 12/3 and then again on Monday 12/6. The thread went crazy after that and it's hard to see exactly what happened.
