Congrats nonetheless. Where are you headed instead?Rand M. wrote:I will be withdrawing for certain within the next few days. The way Pless described how Illinois used the waitlist probably applies to most schools. Basically, the school looking for what numbers they need to fill the class and mantain the desired medians. So, if you have what they are looking for and you show you're really want to go, it should help a little bit. That being said, it's numbers game, especially off of the waitlist.kalvano wrote:I've heard W&L is much more likely to take you off the waitlist if you visit / interview. Anyone confirm this?
Mmmm IDK, Illinois is much more likely to accept those with slightly lower numbers for admission that Washington and Lee is, therefore they don't use their waitlist as much. I think Washington and Lee uses their waitlist a lot because they accept a lot higher numbers and many people choose to go elsewhere. just my two cents. Plus Illinois is a state school, offering in state tuition prices for those in staters to attend luring in people that way. W&L doesn'tDwaterman86 wrote:The way Pless described how Illinois used the waitlist probably applies to most schools. I think this varies by school. Some schools like Vandy seem to almost require a visit and a significant demonstration of intent. I believe other schools are very numerically driven and genuine interest is only a weak factor. By reading W&L's website, it seems like they do give a fair amount of primacy to visits/interest.Dwaterman86 wrote:The way Pless described how Illinois used the waitlist probably applies to most schools.
