UT! Hell yes. I'm finally in.


I got the call today but somehow the call didn't actually come through on my phone. I was ordering a sandwich at Quizno's when my phone vibrated with a voicemail from an Austin number.... the lady ordering my sandwich was getting pretty upset that I wasn't answering the question "Anything else with that?" because I was too busy listening to that voicemail. I don't regret it.

169/3.5 if anyone cares. I was held over from Early Decision.

I think so! I'm a Texas resident (Houston), and the in-state tuition is a huge deal.

I did apply to Columbia and Chicago, and if by some chance I was accepted I'd certainly think seriously about my options. But, most likely, I'll be at UT.

Anyone who was initially held and then later admitted care to comment on LOCIs? Did you send one at all? Email or snail mail? Addressed specifically to Dean Ingram?

I was held and submitted a LOCI. I detailed some updated portions of my resume, and then I also wrote a section on why exactly I wanted to go to UT, and how likely I would be to attend if accepted. I was very frank about it, and simply told them very honest things. For instance, I have family in Houston, and I want to be close to my family. It was as simple as that, and I think that's the way to go. "I have family/friends in the area" is more convincing than "I really love the law library!" imo.

I've been held over from EA since the first week of November. My status just says complete. Should I send a LOCI? What is the best way to express interest if you haven't visited the school or it isn't your number one, but it is definitely up there? Thanks.

Man, I may have gone overboard. I typed nearly 3/4ths of a page, not double spaced discussing the program I'm interested in, letting them know I was still a clerk in biglaw and expressing my interest in Austin in general. I've been held over from EA since Nov. 17. Also from Houston. I'm an EXTREME reverse splitter, so they probably held me to see if I'd update my app with a higher LSAT score. The average from my school is 162, I think, and I'm way below that.

Wow - congratulations!!! I have roughly the same stats as you (and also a non-URM female) so that keeps my tiny, tiny sliver of hope alive. How did you find out you were accepted???
