Re: SMU 2010!
Just another housing post:
*I talked to Debbie Teasley in the housing office at SMU, and she told me that you need to complete and return the housing lottery form by April 7th if you wish to live in an apartment on campus (well, she also told me about the apt style residence halls, but they are too small for my tastes). I was considering just applying for an efficiency in Hillcrest Manor ($610/month for 500 sq ft), but that would not be very conducive to having people over or whatever. The 1BR in the same complex is $800+ per month, which is just too expensive for me for what I'm getting.
I think I'm going to take advantage of the apartment locator guy and just see if I can find a 1BR in close proximity to campus and restaurants and try to pay less than $700/month before utilities. It would be cool to meet one of y'all at the ASD and find a place together to save money and only pay $550 or so.

Does SMU have an under review status or does it go straight from app complete to rejected/accepted?

Sorry to bother you guys, but my friend threw away the letter about the ASD accidentally
and I was wondering if it contained details about the ASD and the dress attire for the event since I didn't have the chance to read it. Thank you!

Re: SMU 2010!
It just tells you the two dates (March 19th, April 23rd), gives you a spiel about how they're important to attend (to visit with profs, see the school, meet possible new classmates), and the time (8:30 am to about 2 pm).rtx10 wrote:Sorry to bother you guys, but my friend threw away the letter about the ASD accidentallyand I was wondering if it contained details about the ASD and the dress attire for the event since I didn't have the chance to read it. Shoot them an email or call the Admissions Office. They'll send you a parking pass for the law garage. Check in at Carr Collins.
And let them know if you can't make either date.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: Oh, and they will provide breakfast and lunch. Causal dress.

Re: SMU 2010!
I will be attending the second ASD because I have to work during the first one. I am pretty excited about visiting the campus for the first time. This visit has the potential to lock in my decision to attend SMU. I hope to see many of you guys and gals on the 23rd of April.Thirteen wrote:Anyone else going to the second ASD? I'll be in Padre during the first one, but hope I can at meet at least a few fellow TLS-ers in April.

Re: SMU 2010!
Hi everyone!
I'll be applying to SMU in 2011 and was just curious about something. If you could go back to where I am now: 5-6 months before your applications and 3 months before your LSAT, would you do anything different?
Just for a little background, SMU will be my first choice since I eventually want to practice in the Plano/Allen area, but I'm also looking at Tech or UT depending on my LSAT.

lol, I missed that one, sorry!
No, the HS invite actually came from the Foundation, not from SMU. The only mailing on my status checker is the regular scholarship offer.

Withdrew my application today. I was curious if they'd let me in after the deferral, but I've already committed to another school. Hope my withdrawal means someone else gets a decision sooner.

It's hard to believe that, of 23 Sumners Scholarship invitees, only one is posting in this thread.
