I thought about that too, but yeah, not quite the same thing. I think it's nice to have a place for people who are seriously considering a school but still weighing their options.Saya wrote:There's a NYU Class of 2013 thread.managamy wrote:+ a lot. Okay, I asked this awhile back, but no one responded. Has anyone with an international mailing address gotten the admit letter yet???

And there goes my tiny hope that Canada Post was to blame for my not receiving a letter...Saya wrote:I believe so:letsgojayhawks wrote:Okay, I asked this awhile back, but no one responded. Has anyone with an international mailing address gotten the admit letter yet???

This is true. Three weeks ago I got a Halloween-themed package from home that was sent in early October.Saya wrote:Haha, me, too. But you never know. Canada Post is a fickle one.letsgojayhawks wrote:And there goes my tiny hope that Canada Post was to blame for my not receiving a letter...

The fact that my file is "still under committee review" although I've been complete since 11/10 is a sign of a big fat WL or reject right?

Not right. It could also be reflective of both your URM and splitter statuses.hopefulundergrad wrote:The fact that my file is "still under committee review" although I've been complete since 11/10 is a sign of a big fat WL or reject right?

Re: NYU 2010
NYU has unofficially held ppl and then accepted them later? There are definitely a few URMs with both stats below 25% that have gotten in already. I at least boost their LSAT median which I thought, combined with large class size, would give me a decent shot.LieutKaffee wrote:Not right. I know what you mean about the thin envelope, but I can't imagine that they would send such a pretty purple to the rejections. Unless as consolation? Don't read too much knowledge into my statement. I just think it's relevant to point to those factors and things that may cause your review to last longer than normal.hopefulundergrad wrote:NYU has unofficially held ppl and then accepted them later? Now that you mention it, we are in similar boats. You're discouraged because a few people with similar status (URM) and lower stats have been accepted and you're still waiting. I'm discouraged because a few other ED-ers have been accepted with 171s and 3.5s and I'm still waiting.
The difference between us is you've received confirmation that you're still under review. I prefer to remain in ignorance and assume my decision has been mailed. While you may indeed be rejected or waitlisted, my aim was to stress my opinion that I think it's much too early to use continued review to rule out the third possibility.

It's not all about medians/25-75ths. Having a <3.0 GPA is going to make adcoms at most top schools hesitate.hopefulundergrad wrote:NYU has unofficially held ppl and then accepted them later? Thanks guys. I knew I would be under review at most schools longer than most bc I'm a URM megasplitter double-whammy. Just need to keep that in perspective.
