Congrats to all the admits! So happy for you guys
You know how the admit letter states you should set up a meeting with a senior admissions officer, do we just email them and ask for their availability? Any other ideas?

Guys, how entitled do I sound when I say I don't want the Butler? It's full ride or bust for me. Reach for the stars.

Tbh kinda entitled. Hamiltons are rare. You're like riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight on the cusp of Hamilton territory, and in an up year for applicants idk.Saami wrote:Guys, how entitled do I sound when I say I don't want the Butler? It's full ride or bust for me. Reach for the stars.
Trust me, I get it. Money is awesome. But a half ride to Columbia is still amazing.

*deep breath* I haven't heard anything back yet, of course, because they are going to give me a Butler. *deep breath* I haven't heard anything back yet, of course, because they are going to give me a Butler. *deep breath* I haven't heard anything back yet, of course, because they are going to give me a Butler. *deep breath* I haven't heard anything back yet, of course, because they are going to give me a Butler.

I wouldn't say I don't want a Butler, per say, but I think I agree that I probably wouldn't attend Columbia on anything other than full tuition. Still, I know I don't automatically deserve that, or whatever. Just what works with my circumstances. If it is the same for you, I wouldn't call that entitled (though tbh saying you don't WANT the Butler, thus saying you don't WANT an offer of tons of monetary value, comes off a little eeeeeeeeh).Saami wrote:Guys, how entitled do I sound when I say I don't want the Butler? I'll put it this way: on the day Butlers are being handed out, I hope I don't see an acceptance letter in my email, haha. I want to hold onto hope for that full ride, no matter how improbable it is.bubblebat wrote:I wouldn't say I don't want a Butler, per say, but I think I agree that I probably wouldn't attend Columbia on anything other than full tuition. Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
Saying that you don't want the Butler and want/need the full ride isn't entitled. If you were to say you necessarily deserved it more than other people or something like that without full knowledge of the applicant pool (which none of us have), then yeah, that'd be entitled.Saami wrote:Shoot for the Moon.subpoenacolada wrote:Lol the entitlement. But like, this shit's expensive. Especially NYC. A tuition half-ride is still going to put you into 6 figures of debt once you add in CoL, and depending on your goals, that can still be really tough to stomach from any school once you start hashing out the payback plan in some detail. So like, yeah. IMO it's fine to not just want a half ride or even to be disappointed if that's "all" you get if your personal situation warrants it.

Curious, was everyone in this wave today a URM or have a special background (military, etc)?

Is anybody that applied later in the cycle hearing anything back yet (interview requests/acceptances)? For reference, applied mid-december and went complete 1/1.
