I got the email too and I submitted my app not that early either (mid November). Still waiting on a decision as well.. I went complete 12/08 so it's definitely been a while.ReadyToStart wrote:Just got an email from Michigan and I was really excited. Imagine my dismay only to see that they're thanking me for my patience.
I am curious though if this was an automated email or if it was sent to specific applicants, just because they mentioned a few times how I applied particularly early in the cycle, which I did not. I didn't apply until Mid-Late November, and I was just curious if everybody else who's waiting on a decision got this email?

So, I did not get the email and I applied January 4th.
Probably just send them to people have been applied for at least a little bit. I'm still waiting on my status checker lol

That email made me anxious. Thought I was going to get waitlisted or dinged at the end.

The email is sent out every year around this time. Dean Zearfoss explains it pretty well here: http://www.law.umich.edu/connection/a2z ... aspx?ID=83
I stumbled upon that article a few weeks ago, so I was prepared for this email, but it was still a bummer to receive it (even though it took me only a split second to realize what it was.)

I wouldn't feel too bad about the email y'all since my checked now reads: "We are very sorry to tell you that we are not able to offer you a place in our entering class. A decision letter has been mailed to you at the address shown above."
So if you didn't get the email check your checker

I think I'm going to send a Why Mich. Been thinking about it anyway and this email made up my mind. I'm liking Michigan the more I learn about it so I feel like I'll be able to write a genuine one.sorence wrote:+1, and I applied ~December 1st. Anyone think this would be an appropriate time for a LOCI? I got a new job since sending out my application, but I'm not sure if it'd be better to hold off on a LOCI in case I get waitlisted.

I actually did appreciate the email they sent today. It shows respect to us. I like the transparency.
I'll send a "why Michigan"

Checking in and in the same boat. I'm wondering if I should send in a LOCI with a new job and publication. The thing is, I really only went complete 1/4, since I took the December LSAT - and asked them to hold my application for it, so I really haven't been waiting too long..dclaw93 wrote:I think I'm going to send a Why Mich. You can cheat and just send an updated resume and a short email, saving your first formal LOCI in case of a waitlist!addie1412 wrote:

You don't get information in the acceptance letter. They send it separately about two weeks after admission.

Does the committee see the email or just the admin staff?guybourdin wrote:You can cheat and just send an updated resume and a short email, saving your first formal LOCI in case of a waitlist!addie1412 wrote:

I started to do this but the "short email" started to turn into letter length and the content seemed very much like a LOCI, so I'm tempted to go ahead and send one. Do you think this would be an inappropriate time?guybourdin wrote:You can cheat and just send an updated resume and a short email, saving your first formal LOCI in case of a waitlist!addie1412 wrote:

Kind of, yeah. They haven't rendered a decision on your application and you have not been waiting that long (less than 12 weeks = completely reasonable wait IMO) so I don't see how conveying your "continued interest" is necessary/reasonable.addie1412 wrote:I started to do this but the "short email" started to turn into letter length and the content seemed very much like a LOCI, so I'm tempted to go ahead and send one. I definitely think you should update your resume if you have an update to make, and a new job qualifies. If you think that is best done with a LOCI attached, I wouldn't try to stop you, I just wouldn't encourage it.
Also, fyi, I am probably overly-cautious about "bothering" admissions staff, so keep that in mind when I give "advice", lol.

Re: Michigan c/o 2020 applicants (2016-17)
So I applied mid December and got the "application received" email on 12/20.
Still no link to the status checker
How soon before I start freaking out? I'm obviously not gonna contact admissions because it does say that it could take several weeks, but it's still frustrating.
Anyone else still waiting for their status checker?

I can't say specifically for Michigan, but every other school I have sent additional info/LOCIs to they have responded saying "thank you...we have added the email and letter to your application." So, I would assume Michigan will too add the email to your app.guybourdin wrote:I assume they see everything.
