Glad it's not just me with that problem. I emailed the diversity coordinator too and never heard back. I've found reaching out to the student groups on campus pretty helpful, though.poptart123 wrote:I've sent emails the the diversity coordinator twice, weeks apart, and have yet to receive a response. I haven't heard anything since I submitted in January, and I'm above both medians.
What gives?

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
So I recently received an interview request and I am interviewing on Tuesday. I know it's all speculation but I have to imagine my chances of hearing back by end of next week are pretty slim?
Also, is there a list of questions some place in this thread? I don't mind searching but I don't want to spend time searching for some that isn't there.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
Personally, I interviewed on Tuesday, January 25th, and got admitted next week on Thursday, February 4th. Some people on here have gotten in earlier/later after their interview on here, so you may hear back by end of the week, but I definitely wouldn't count on it. That being said, the wait after the interview isn't long at all.EastCoastICU wrote:So I recently received an interview request and I am interviewing on Tuesday. As far as questions, look at the first post on this forum lol. You'll get some of those questions, and then probably get asked about your PS/Resume, but overall, it's a pretty low key interview.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
Hi, admitted here last week and I visited months prior. It is without a doubt my top choice. I did make waitlist at 4 top 14's, however, I loved WUSTL I almost just want to commit now. I've yet to receive scholarship info but I am not expecting much. I don't mean for this to come off in the wrong way but I do have someone funding my education. Believe me I am not rich but others in my family are. My ultimate goal is corporate law relating to contracts and such, however, I am very flexible and willing to go into other fields following law school.
Is there a way to see median salaries?
Money is not everything but I would be lying if I said it was not important. I also love St. Louis so I imagine staying in the area will give me best employment prospects. I'm not too familiar with reading the disclosures so could someone could tell me what would be the difference in employment prospects in say St. Louis between going to a school such as Norhtwestern verse WUSTL?
Reading about all of the people who transfer scare me, I really do not want to end up transferring.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
Wustl doesn't publish the NALP report so there is no salary data. Anecdotally, wustl is a school where great jobs are possible, but only available to a few people with high grades, good interviewing skills, and/or other soft factors. For example, every year you have some people who either transfer to HYS, get top vault firms at OCI, get fed clerkships, or transfer to T14 and get top vault firms, but all of these people constitute maybe 10-15% of the class. You have another 10-20% chunk who can snag biglaw of some sort. Most of these have diversity or IP or some other similar factor. The problem is that the rest, unless you're a PI gunner, are barred from biglaw or bigfed or whatever else is competitive.
Being in the top chunk of the class is a great place to be at wustl. Median is not, and the concern is can you achieve your goals from median.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
Thank you! Any idea of what kind of jobs do median candidates receive? I would have to imagine there are greater prospects than schools such as BC (outside of Boston). Having said this, if I go to WUSTL I will be pretty much be committing to being in St. Louis which is a place I would be happy to be.PeanutsNJam wrote:Wustl doesn't publish the NALP report so there is no salary data. Some people hear a day or two after their interview. I believe I got in the very next day.EastCoastICU wrote:So I recently received an interview request and I am interviewing on Tuesday. As for questions, it was fairly informal. I had questions about my work history (I've been out of school for a couple years), and the "why law school" question. It wasn't painful at all and was actually a good chance to get any questions you have answered.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
There are a couple smaller law firms around for the median people with strong stl ties and good interviewing. Unfortunately, they work you almost as hard as the biglaw firms around but pay you significantly less. There are also quite a few PI positions available to people around. Having stl ties are good, and if you like went to the same high school as your hiring partner or something, I'd even dare to say you can get biglaw at slightly above median.heynowheynow wrote:Thank you! This swings the other way too. Without stl ties, you need serious grades and a bomb interview, along with other factors such as interesting W/E and/or diversity, to get the stl biglaw.
Wustl can get you a job but you need things like ties, diversity, work experience, and all the other intangibles like a connection with your interviewer or a great network to get biglaw without ~top 20% grades. If you are weird, bad in interviews, and objectively have nothing going for you, then you'll have a very hard time at median. T14 is better because hiring people are much more forgiving of weirdness.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
No, but salaries for attorneys from many other schools are readily available, and you'll see they are very similar year-over-year with two peaks around 55-60k and 150k or so. You're going to have to imagine this is similar at WUSTL - 20/25% in that 130-160k range, not much in the 75-120k range, and then a pretty big chunk around 50 or so. You should go to any school outside of the t14 assuming you've got a 50% chance of making LESS money after you graduate than before.heynowheynow wrote:

How would you compare WUSTL $$$$ to Michigan $$$? What price difference would make WUSTL the better deal? I'm not deadset on biglaw, but I want to be debt free by age 35. Numbers are over all medians and no STL ties.

There's probably not a price at which I make that decision if BigLaw is on my radar. What do you want to do in the alternative? What's your target market?
Also, if you have $$$ at Mich, I assume you have other options, as well?

I'd be okay with midlaw. Mostly I want to ensure that I won't have to worry too much about money, so that seems like midlaw+ or PI plus loan forgiveness.Joscellin wrote:RZ5646 wrote:How would you compare WUSTL $$$$ to Michigan $$$? Right now those are my two most notable offers. Also in at NYU and some other T14s, but no financial aid info from them yet.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2019 Applicants
It's worth being aware that there isn't a particularly large difference between MidLaw and St. Louis BigLaw. If you're aiming at firm work (esp w/o StLouis ties, $$$ at M is going to be a better bet, though I'd definitely wait on stressing over this until you get FinAid infos from the other t14s.RZ5646 wrote:I'd be okay with midlaw. Accepted mid January and I haven't heard anything about scholarships. Am I missing something? Should I contact them about this? I really like WUSTL and want to consider it, but am not going to go anywhere for sticker.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
