Really sorry to hear that gtownhopeful. I know it probably doesn't seem like it right now but there's no question you'll have plenty of great options with those numbers.

Maybe look over your application again? Were there any glaring errors? Did you put in another school's name in your application or something?georgetownhopeful893 wrote:Just posted my own thread but really freaked out about this. About to cry:
So just sent received a personal email saying I was denied admission and my decision letter was sent out on Friday. I applied Tuesday. So it took three days for them to deny me. I'm not even complete on the status checker.
I have a 170 LSAT and a 3.6X GPA . No C&F issues. Why Michigan statement as well.
What could this mean that I was denied so quickly?
If there really are no mistakes you can contact the school and confirm that this wasn't an administrative error or something - It can't really hurt at this point.
I'm sorry about what happened to you

I'm so sorry to hear this. Who knows the "why" behind something like this? I didn't know Mich was so set on 170 scorers to turn folks away at the door. Their loss...this will be but a small bump in the road for you with your numbers. Trust me/us.georgetownhopeful893 wrote:Just posted my own thread but really freaked out about this. About to cry:

Thanks to all of you who gave kind advice and condolences. I just checked my app again and there were no identifiable spelling/grammar mistakes. And my "Why Michigan" addendum did not accidentally name any other schools or anything like that. I'm so confused....ChemEng1642 wrote:Maybe look over your application again? I'm sorry about what happened to you- it honestly seems like they barely even looked at your app. I think it's either a mistake or there's a glaring error in there somewhere

Accepted via status checker after getting that "sorry for the wait" email yesterday. Guess it was nothing to worry about.

It isn't; it is to prevent you from worrying about the wait because Michigan is awesomekfb2112 wrote:Accepted via status checker after getting that "sorry for the wait" email yesterday. Guess it was nothing to worry about.

I really really really think this is an administrative error. They probably hadn't even started to read your application yet by the time they said they sent you the decision letter.georgetownhopeful893 wrote:Just posted my own thread but really freaked out about this. About to cry:

Hey guys, I'm the OP regarding the 3 day rejection. Should have posted this earlier- I got an email back with an apology and saying it was a mistake. Thanks for all the well-wishers; you guys really calmed me down when I was flipping sh*t. I'm really interested in Michigan so thank god I don't hold the title of fastest rejection ever received.

Phew.. What a day for you! But they are probably feeling really guilty and bad for you, and before they make any decisions, they'll probably take this into consideration and give you a lot of money.georgetownhopeful893 wrote:Hey guys, I'm the OP regarding the 3 day rejection. That is some serious roller coaster they put you on, though, sorry it happened but glad it got resolved and you're back on the less-exciting brother coaster of just waiting!georgetownhopeful893 wrote:HAHAHA let's hope so. What do you guys think about possibly sending in a Why Michigan essay after applying? I didn't write one because I didn't think I was a candidate for YP (median LSAT, above 75th GPA) and I already had written a diversity statement, but sniffing around LSN is making me a bit nervous. I applied last week and my status checker says Complete- In Progress.

For most schools, isn't YP above both 75 percentiles? I think you would not be considered a YP reject so much as just a really strong candidate. I heard Michigan really looks at Why Michigan essays for splitters, but with your numbers I wouldn't worry. Worst comes to worst, if you get WL you can send them a Why Michigan letter and see if that bumps you into the admit category.leslieknope wrote:What do you guys think about possibly sending in a Why Michigan essay after applying? I'm 100% positive that it's been discussed in the thread (would scroll but I'm at work and, well, you know) but what's the general wait time before hearing about scholarships? A month?

Mine was one and half months. I think the Jan.7th wave was for the September/October/November admits, of course some people heard back way before that. Now they are probably moving to the December admits. But generally it's about 1-2 months. When did you get accepted?mindthegap wrote:I'm 100% positive that it's been discussed in the thread (would scroll but I'm at work and, well, you know) but what's the general wait time before hearing about scholarships? Thank you! I was accepted very recently (1/10) so I'm jumping the gun a bit but I'm working abroad and need to know which schools I can realistically even afford before taking time off to visit them. Michigan is one of my top choices so I'm hoping I'll at least qualify for some aid.taptaptop wrote:Mine was one and half months. It was about 1.5 months for me (Nov admit) but I found this on the Michigan financial aid site:mindthegap wrote:Thank you! "We begin processing the bulk of our merit scholarships in mid-January; by late January, we are caught up with awards for offers made through the end of the year, and from that point through the end of the season, a merit award, if any, is made within about two weeks of an admissions offer."
