Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I went complete in the middle of December and haven't heard a peep yet. I have a 173 LSAT and a 3.8 GPA and I'm starting to get worried. I heard that UVA/Penn have a history of waitlisting applicants like me because they want to keep their retention numbers high? UVA is really one of my top choices and now I wish that I had tailored my personal statement to UVA. Is anybody else in my position as well? It's too early for a letter of continued interest right?

Yeah, there are a bunch of TLS-ers in the same position (and many who have been waiting since Sept/Oct) right now. Writing a Why UVA is hugely important, although doesn't guarantee you won't be WLed. If I were you, I would craft a well-written Why UVA now and ask that it be added to your file.mimiquestionmark wrote:I went complete in the middle of December and haven't heard a peep yet. :'( so much regret! What about also visiting UVA? Has anybody here already done a visit? was there a chance to get face time with the admissions personnel and show strong interest in the school?hillz wrote:Yeah, there are a bunch of TLS-ers in the same position (and many who have been waiting since Sept/Oct) right now. I was in a similar situation, as I wrote no Why UVA in my original app, nor did I send in a LOCI. However, I visited the school and shortly after signing in was told that the dean wanted to see me at the end of the school tour. He talked to me for maybe 3 minutes and handed me my admissions packet. It seemed pretty obvious to me that this wasn't a pure coincidence of timing.mimiquestionmark wrote::'( so much regret! Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I won't be able to make the ASW, but really want to visit (both to hasten a decision/scholarship and to learn about the school/culture). Xylocarp posted the funding available for visits ($250 from my state), but does anyone know if these funds are limited exclusively to admitted students? I want to visit the first week in March, and I really want/need those funds to make the trip. Hopefully I'm admitted by then, but...hillz wrote:Yes, definitely visit if you can.
Edit: change of plans

Maybe the past couple days of nothing means they'll send out a bunch of decisions tomorrow or Friday *wishful thinking*

DO ALL ADMITTED UVA LAW STUDENTS INTERVIEW?
Can someone shed some light on this I've seen data and reports from numerous sites on both sides of this debate. I realize interviews are by invite only however cannot determine whether all admits are interviewed. UVA Law website seems to explicitly state the answer to my aforementioned question is Yes, per the FAQ section verbatim:
"Every applicant who, upon review of his or her file, is determined to be a competitive and serious candidate for admission is contacted and interviewed via Skype or phone, by an admissions staff member"
That said, I've seen comments on different sites where some admits seem to just get admitted with no interview ever being part of the process...
Thoughts???

I was worried about this exact same thing, so I called the Admissions Office, and they confirmed that you DO NOT have to interview to be accepted!

Ahhhh!! In via status checker!!! I've been away from computer all day and have been phoneless for the last few days, so no idea if they also called. Really, really excited!
Median LSAT, below median GPA, interviewed 1/13 and had given up hope. Hang in there, guys!
