Chicago's admissions twitter account announced that decisions were going out late in the afternoon (like 3:30 central) and it looks like decisions started rolling out within the hour.

Not much, but I think we'll have decisions mid-next week.HarvardHopeful wrote:what does it all meant14splitter wrote:Went through last year's thread:

Agreed - naturally as I was looking through last year's thread, all of you had already done it! My findings below:lawschool22 wrote:Not much, but I think we'll have decisions mid-next week.HarvardHopeful wrote:what does it all meant14splitter wrote:Went through last year's thread:

1/17: A few people notice going UR4
1/18: Tweet from U Chicago saying they're working on a big batch but no decisions would come that day
1/23: Tweet from U Chicago around 5:15 pm EST saying decisions coming out
1/23: Acceptances, WLs (mostly those who didn't interview but at least 1 who did), and at least 1 ding reported from 5:30 pm onward. Seems like they all came out together.

With so many URs today, it's also feasible that they the decisions might be slightly sooner than last year.lastsamurai wrote:Agreed - naturally as I was looking through last year's thread, all of you had already done it! UR3 today as well. Interviewed fairly recently as a part of the second wave of interviews.

Last year was also a little slower due to the interviews, so they may have things a bit more "together" this year.fivestarfolds wrote: With so many URs today, it's also feasible that they the decisions might be slightly sooner than last year.

last year's Sep-Oct were notified on the 23rd. I think that they are a few weeks ahead this year so I would expect them to maybe notify Sep through late Nov in the first round?

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
From last year's results spreadsheet it looks like the people who submitted in November didn't get interview requests until late January and then got decisions on 2/15/13 or 3/8/13. But I think we are on a faster schedule this year. I submitted in early November and already had my interview. If I had to guess I think November applicants will hear in this first wave.fivestarfolds wrote:last year's Sep-Oct were notified on the 23rd. And we're pretty sure you basically need an interview to be accepted, right?

Yeah - with very few exceptions. People love to float the idea but only because it offers a glimmer of hope. I did it all of last yearlawschool22 wrote:And we're pretty sure you basically need an interview to be accepted, right?

Hm. That probably means WL/ding for me then. I'm at UR3 1/17 with no interview. Hoping as a 173/3.6 I at least make the WLfivestarfolds wrote:Yeah - with very few exceptions. Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
In December they tweeted that "This year, we were able to interview almost 250 applicants for the class of 2017, and we're excited to meet many more of you in 2014." Given the size of the student body, I'd find it unlikely that there are more than a handful of acceptances without interviews - especially given how rote the interviews are, rather than seeming like a genuine opportunity to learn more about the applicant than what is on their resume.lawschool22 wrote:And we're pretty sure you basically need an interview to be accepted, right?

I agree 100% with your analysis. I'm really skeptical that UChicago will be very lenient this year with non-interviewees.alex.cm wrote:In December they tweeted that "This year, we were able to interview almost 250 applicants for the class of 2017, and we're excited to meet many more of you in 2014." I also think that they had an unexpectedly high yield last year so the percentage of acceptances from interviewees may drop (I just remember people talking about how many students showed up for ASW).

Yeah, I figured as much. Oh well. Every day it's looking more and more like NYU is where I'm going to be with these pending non-acceptances. First UVA, soon to be UChi, probably Penn to follow lol.fivestarfolds wrote:I agree 100% with your analysis.
