Thanks, I appreciate it. I've been hoping it's not a bad omen for other placesemmybee wrote:Wow, sorry to hear that. Kind of shocking. With those numbers I think you are in good shape at some other really great schools though.orangec90 wrote:Rejected - 168 / 3.66 URM. Didn't write a Why UVA or interview. Oh well!

I got an email from one of their admissions deans asking if we could set up a time to "discuss your application" and saying he could talk by phone or Skype. There wasn't an official scheduling system like for HLS or Chicago interviews, I just replied suggesting a time that worked for me the following day and gave him a call then.scoobers wrote:could someone (RCO, maybe?) give us some info on the interview request process, etc?

They will send you an email asking to set up a time to discuss your application, either through Skype or telephone. You could either just call them back to setup a time (or do the interview right then if they are available) or email them back with prospective times. I just called though because it is easier than email.scoobers wrote:could someone (RCO, maybe?) give us some info on the interview request process, etc?

I applied at the end of October and, other than strange quasi-interview request email from them about a week after my application was sent in, I haven't heard anything.AAJD2B wrote:Anyone still waiting who applied mid-end of October ?
Ahh, I see. That is super useful! Thank you for sharing. Although that reveals that the odds of coming off the waitlist are pretty damn bleak.I used Mylsn, assigned a super wide range( 120-180, 2.0-4.5), and then copy and pasted the waitlist-accepted into excel to count them.chingwoo wrote:Yay!!! That is awesome. How did you do that?

Still waiting here. Hoping that surviving the WL wave was a good sign.AAJD2B wrote:Anyone still waiting who applied mid-end of October ?
For what it's worth, I think a lot of people come off the UVA wait list in late summer. My sister was accepted in August the year she applied. That was 2005-2006, so obviously it was a very different cycle, but I believe a number of her classmates who were accepted from the WL were also admitted in mid- to late summer. Don't know how the applicant pools will compare though. People are less willing to pay sticker now even at top schools, and my understanding is that UVA doesn't throw money at people. It's possible more admitted students will decline now if they don't get scholarships.fivestarfolds wrote:Some part of me feels like UVA overplayed its hand... But it's the bitter part of me. I'm just surprised to be getting interviews or getting in elsewhere and to suddenly be halted by UVA.
I think that because they try and get verbal confirmations from their admits, they have a very high yield rate (one of the highest in the country). Once they fill up their applicant pool, they probably don't lose many to attrition.
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
