Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hey jpal. I went under review on 11/22 too =(. I don't know if that really tells you anything about where you stand though.
To add to what Davidbentley said: A black-box admissions is when your numbers are not as reliable indicators for your chances of acceptance as they are for other schools. I'm above/at both 75%s, so it doesn't hurt, but a school like Berkeley is more likely to accept/reject you in spite/despite your numbers. Their LSAT 25% is 164, for example--not really a T10 number, ya know? They're obviously looking at factors way beyond your numbers.
Thanks for the congratulations!
FYI: I haven't gotten into Michigan (yet?)--so hopefully that makes you feel better =).[/quote]
Thanks, I'm sure you will get your UMich acceptance soon. I love the idea of going to U of Mich, I just don't like the snow storm I saw on the news. I am from a tropical climate.

Question for those admitted. My admission email mentioned them helping to defray the cost of airfare for ASW. Has anyone received more info on this? How much do they typically provide?

There's a bit more info in the admissions packet and/or the admitted students website (Can't remember which). And it covers up to 300 for OOS and I think 150 for in-state. You got to check in at the event and present your info to them, I believe.Boston_NYG2245 wrote:Question for those admitted. Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I noticed on the 2009-10 charts that there were lots of admits on Jan. 3 and Jan. 5 of that year. I was sort of counting on that being like the 2nd and 4th this year. Anyone think there will be another round this week?

I just checked my transmitted application on lsac and all the answers are blank. My status checker has everything checked, and my application status has been "under review" for awhile. Should I be worried? . Was there some kind of error? I don't think I could've submitted the application at all if the required questions were not answered, right? I'm considering e-mailing them, but don't want to bother them unnecessarily.

haha my bad. When I click on my transmitted application it says "No answer provided by applicant" under every question, but, obviously, i answered a bunch of questions. My file is under review. What's the deal?WhiteGuy5 wrote:moshid wrote:I just checked my transmitted application on lsac and all the answers are blank. Uhh yeah that sounds weird. Call the school directly tomorrow and ask them. It's probably just a glitch.moshid wrote:haha my bad. Congrats to everyone who got in! I have a question about the matching scholarship program. Does anyone have a rough idea of about when we should start applying for those?

I think it's a bit early to do so. Did you submit a "Why Berkeley?"gatorapplicant wrote:anyone have any thoughts on sending a LOCI if i haven't heard back yet? i've been under review since 10/19

I haven't heard back either. I wrote a diversity statement, but not a "Why Berkeley?". Should I send one in? How would one do this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Disagree, only because Berkeley is on record as saying "the earlier the better." In other words, get your best foot in the door ASAP.Smumps wrote:I think it's a bit early to do so. Also, at this point if you're not in but have a chance, it will likely be through Committee Review; you might want to use this to buoy your chances.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
