Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
If I don't get in to Stanford, I'm blaming my school
For not sending my Dean's Certification
Until well over 1 month after I submitted my application.
Maybe I'll cry a lot, because
Stanford's the #1 winner of my heart.
Maybe I won't, because
I'm pretty happy with my cycle so far and
I like having a positive outlook on life.
But never will I blame myself
For submitting my application
The day they closed for winter break.
Never.

Oh goodness...sorry if that's considered spamming...uh...
It's late and I was just voicing general anxiety/frustration about having a 1/27 completion date when it should have been so much earlier...

Two things
1. In terms of timing you might be fine..i feel like Stanford to some degree holds on to some apps like Yale (although not to the same extent)..i looked through lsn and there were some people who submitted in Jan and got in Late Jan/Feb last year while others who submitted in sept/oct/nov were accepted in March/april. So honestly if you are meant to get it..you should get in.
2.even though u never blame yourself, if you submitted after they closed, your app would prob have been complete around the same time anyway (give or take a week or two).

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Same thing actually happened to me. I submitted my apps in early January, but Stanford only JUST got the Statement of the Dean last week, so I only JUST went complete. I know it's mostly my fault for applying so late, but can anyone give me an idea whether this destroys my chances of getting in? Given that I went complete after their application deadline, I assume it means I have virtually no chance of getting in now. Is that a correct assumption? Am I right to be furious with my college?Elric wrote:If I don't get in to Stanford, I'm blaming my school

Not to be a douche, but I submitted my Dean's Certificate in July. W(hy)TF would you wait so long to do something so simple? It's literally like 30 minutes or work for something that's extraordinarily important. Never understood that. And being busy is no excuse. I was in Afghanistan.

for some people it wasn't their fault...their undergraduate institutions may have caused the delay. There are people who gave the form to the dean in Sept and found out that it was mailed out a month or more after. It may take 30 minutes to do but it doesn't mean the dean will do it in 30 minutes.

Not really. I submitted my application on time, months ago, and it still took about 3-4 weeks for my Dean's Certificate to be received and processed, and that was with a little bit of prodding on my part.lessthanjake wrote:Same thing actually happened to me. Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I feel for the people who have problems like this...
My wife's PhD applications to literally half the schools she applied to were not even considered because a professor of hers did not submit his letter of recommendation. She called, emailed, called, emailed, did everything but visit his office (since we were overseas). On top of this, he didn't even tell her that he didn't submit them all. She assumed everyone had the letter when some of the schools confirmed receipt, since not all schools do that. However, about four months after the applications were sent she was notified that many applications were still incomplete. Some places told her this literally two days before the deadline.

I just hate how it gives me false hope because I've survived a month of "review," when we all KNOW it means nothinggggg and they would never dip as low as my GPA. Grrrr.amc987 wrote:+1 for this--basically my life in a nutshell.hypothalamus wrote:My application to Stanford Law School has not yet been rejected.

I think there was a big round of URM admits around that time last year.larsoner wrote:What's special about March 7th?FryBreadPower wrote:And March 7th creeps closer.amc987 wrote:+1 for this--basically my life in a nutshell.hypothalamus wrote:My application to Stanford Law School has not yet been rejected.

Supposedly that's when the majority (or at least a large number) of URM decisions were made last year.larsoner wrote:What's special about March 7th?FryBreadPower wrote:And March 7th creeps closer.amc987 wrote:+1 for this--basically my life in a nutshell.hypothalamus wrote:My application to Stanford Law School has not yet been rejected.
