This is what happened to me too! I asked something along the lines of, "I know that there are a lot of pressures that can push law students who originally wanted to do PI into the private sector. How do you help students who are focused on PI to stick with their goals?" I didn't even specifically mention Columbia's reputation or placement rates. And my interviewer seemed to get defensive about it. By the end of it I almost felt like they were trying to convince me that it was better anyway to start in BigLaw before transitioning to PI. It was very weird and did not help me to feel like I did well in the interview.rachelac wrote:No that's what I mean! My interview was weirdly combative, like I asked about the public service program and said that I was asking since CLS had more of a big-law reputation as opposed to PI in what I thought was a very professional way (like, asked a similar question to UVA and was accepted with a PI full ride) and the interviewer seemed really offended by it.bubblebat wrote:At this point I'm feeling like I'll be the first person well over both 75ths to not even get accepted at all.rachelac wrote:Really hoping for a Butler wave today or else I think I'll be the only person in the history of LSN to be at both 75ths and get dingedSaami wrote:Accept me today with the Hamilton, plz.

Dang, y'all had some rough interviewers. Mine was so friendly and encouraging about my public interest plans. Our conversation ended up going ten minutes past our planned time. Felt bad for whoever was interviewing next, lol.

Huh. I wonder if we had different interviewers. I also asked a similar question and felt like he was really reassuring about Columbia's commitment to PI students. I thought the interview was really enjoyable for the most part.purpleplatypus wrote:This is what happened to me too! Also looked more closely at the letter and realized I was nominated for a leadership fellowship that I have to interview for in March. Didn't even know those existed! Maybe that's today's wave?
