The status checker never changes. Emails and the admissions packet from UT will come over the course of a week or two. The deposit deadline is April 15th. Eventually you'll get invited to Freshlaw (you can also find and log into it on the UT Law admissions site) and that directs you to where to pay the deposit and other info.jpl234 wrote:Same for me! I think its the 15th and they said the official letter should be coming in the mail soon.ohthatjenn wrote:I was accepted yesterday via phone but the status checker still shows "complete" and no other emails from UT except the one about their FB group. Is this normal? When is the deposit deadline?

The trick to getting accepted from the WL at UT seems to be just to completely ignore them. I'm not even kidding. Most of the WL admits I've had contact with said they didn't do anything and UT eventually accepted them. Makes me regret sending the LOCIs that I have.cphtexas wrote:Submitted my LOCI last week... in state... PLEASE show me some love UT!! With the options I have now, it it definitely my number one!!

It seems to be all a numbers game to me. As they say in Person of Interest... when you're numbers up, they'll find you.cphtexas wrote:I was WL'd back in early February so I felt like it was a decent amount of time... but maybe I screwed my chances by not playing hard to get ha.OtterLaw wrote:The trick to getting accepted from the WL at UT seems to be just to completely ignore them. Just yesterday got a call from them with an acceptance. I hadn't realized they were callers not mailers. Pretty cool, even if I don't plan on going there currently.

The best way to get in off the waitlist is to retake the LSAT.

I can see how for some people that is the best option. But for me at this point, if UT doesn't want me I'm taking it as a sign that I'm supposed to go to one of the T14 schools that I got into. UT will happen if it is supposed to.cannibal ox wrote:The best way to get in off the waitlist is to retake the LSAT.

I've never seen an unwillingness to retake get twisted into a "the universe wants me to go to X law school" but you do you, bro.

As a veteran, going to law school for free, why would he retake the LSAT to go to a lower rated school?cannibal ox wrote:I've never seen an unwillingness to retake get twisted into a "the universe wants me to go to X law school" but you do you, bro.

He's from Texas. I'm sure he would love to go home, and practice in Texas. But, if they don't want him, it doesn't make sense to wait a year and reapply to UT. He will literally get paid to go to Virginia. If he has ties to Texas, which he does, he can use those to try and break back into the Texas market. He's also got a better chance of getting to New York if he so chooses. Going home is great, but not wasting a year of my life great.cannibal ox wrote:Why would he stay on the WL?FairchildFLT wrote:As a veteran, going to law school for free, why would he retake the LSAT to go to a lower rated school?cannibal ox wrote:I've never seen an unwillingness to retake get twisted into a "the universe wants me to go to X law school" but you do you, bro.

1) I'd feel more comfortable targeting Texas from UVA than I would from UT
2) They don't "want him" because his LSAT is too low
3) My first post still stands. The best way to get off the WL is to retake

1. So would I. But I would feel more comfortable targeting any other market outside of Texas from UVA than I would UT.cannibal ox wrote:1) I'd feel more comfortable targeting Texas from UVA than I would from UT

2. But a higher rated school wanted him. So his LSAT is good enough for UVA, but not high enough for UT? That makes absolutely no sense. Admissions is a black box. I guarantee there are people with lower LSAT scores attending UT this year.
3. That may be very well be true. But if he's not dead set on attending UT no matter how long it takes, it makes no sense to wait a year to attend a lower ranked school.

1. I can't tell what point you're making besides UVA being an all-around better school. I don't disagree.FairchildFLT wrote:1. So would I. 2. Yale is a black box. UT is about numbers. Telling yourself anything less is doing yourself a disservice and posting it here is misleading at best. A Texas bro, especially a vet, with numbers above both medians is getting is 9 times out of 10.
3. You can retake in June.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Going to UT for me had a lot to do with wanting to live in Austin and it's also the better option for my husband work-wise. I went into the cycle with my heart set on UT, but it seems they're obsessed with LSAT scores and mine isn't up to what they are looking for. In the meantime I got accepted to higher-ranked schools and cost is comparable with my GI Bill so I'm feeling like UT will work out if it is supposed to, and otherwise I have other good options too (including a waitlist offer from Harvard today). So for me, I don't see a point in retaking to woo UT. It's nothing dramatic; it's just how I feel.cannibal ox wrote:1. Just got waitlisted here. Anyone know the percentage of people they take of their list & if there is a preferred WL vs normal WL?

Reverse splitter vets are a black box, I've seen 3.9/164 types get in to, like, Harvard. But I agree, nothing black box about UT admissions from what I've seen.

As I understand no ranking means no preferred list. Do we need to submit LOCI asap?

Within 2 weeks is what it says but I'd like to know the actual chances of being admitted off the wait list, especially OOS.happydragonblessus wrote:Waiting-list too.RonnyDiniro wrote:Well it says candidates aren't ranked but not that there isn't a preferred listDebtIsAmyth wrote:Same and the email says there is not a preferred wait list.RonnyDiniro wrote:Just got waitlisted here.
