Just went UR2. Was UR1 on 12/11. Submitted 11/3.

As someone who applied back in October, would there be any downside to e-mailing the admissions office with an update resume and a "Why Penn" essay this late in the game? Is there any way it might harm my chances (by putting my application "to the bottom of the pile," so to speak?)

I submitted my "Why Penn" via email after I submitted my app. Go for it!

Considering doing this. Would you mind sharing how you went about it? (ie email with brief awkward excuse and the essay as an attachment?)

You can write something along the lines of, "I have attached a "Why Penn" essay to this email, which reaffirms my commitment to attend Penn Law. It is my hope that this essay will assist the Admissions Committee in rendering a decision on my application. Thank you for your consideration."

I'm currently on the wait list. Do either of you know if decent financial aid still might come to someone who gets in off the wait list? Trying to decide between decent money somewhere else, or forgoing that to stay on Penn, where I really would like to go... Risky move though.

ED2 Complete 1/6 and UR1 1/15!! Fingers crossed.

What does your status say? Mine just says under committee review is this the same as UR1?

It's possible but not likely

I've been told that it depends on why you ended up on the waitlist to begin with. If you're above both 75ths and you think you've been a victim of YP, then send a LOCI, and once you're admitted you might be a good scholarship candidate. If you were a borderline candidate to begin with, it's pretty unlikely that you'll get off the waitlist and suddenly be offered $$$$.
