Got an interesting letter about my app still being in review after submitting early in the process. I consider myself a borderline candidate for admission, so my heart almost dropped seeing the email. But dang I'd love to end up at Mich.

I vaguely remember only late-January and early-February slots open when I signed up, but not sure if that's because the slots were filled by the time I looked or if the slots never existed in the first place.FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:anyone have a darrow interview yet? share details?

Mich seems a lot more YP-y this cycle.

Yep also got the thanks for your patience thing. Can't help but feel like it's a preamble to being WL'd eventually.

Got the thanks for your patience email, too. I'm just going to assume that it went to everyone who applied before a certain date but hasn't heard anything yet, so it probably means no more than having not heard yet does.

I also got the thanks-for-your-patience email. I was a little confused as to why I'm getting it now, though - it said that they try to get decisions out within ten weeks, but they're definitely well within that range for me still.

That email gave me a heart attack, especially the part about being "dissapointed". Still nice that they update you and keep you in the loop. Michigan and their magical status updates continue

Also received the email, and I also was temporarily crushed when I read, "you may feel some disappointment" at the beginning of the email.

Blog post from Dean Z on the emails:

ETA: Turns out it's from 2012, but their Twitter just reposted it, and it's a good read.

Sorry for being late to the party, but I got this thing too. Nice to hear from them. Here are my takeaways:hereisonehand wrote:anyone else get this weird "thanks for your patience we are still reviewing your file!" email?
Dear Applicant,
We haven't told you anything about your application for four solid months because one or more of the following are true:
1. We are waiting for you to send us something that might compel us to admit you and we are losing hope by the day.
2. There's one yahoo here who actually wants to admit you, but the rest of us can't stand you and we're just waiting her out.
3. We would prefer to wait a while longer to see just how desperate we are before we decide whether or not to invite you here.
Good luck!

Those were my takeaways as well. Felt like a precursor to a WL, that's just the sense I got when I read it.

If anyone has any questions about housing (mostly off-campus), I'm finishing up my last semester of undergrad at Umich right now and am from MI. Not going here for LS, but shoot me a PM if you want to know ANYTHING about the area (besides intricate details about the law school)

Thoughts on responding to the "sorry for the long wait" email?

Went complete last week. Denied this morning on status checker. Not surprised, but was hoping for a waitlist at least.

Re: Michigan Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
Just posted my own thread but really freaked out about this. About to cry:
So just sent received a personal email saying I was denied admission and my decision letter was sent out on Friday. I applied Tuesday. So it took three days for them to deny me. I'm not even complete on the status checker.
I have a 170 LSAT and a 3.6X GPA . No C&F issues. Why Michigan statement as well.
What could this mean that I was denied so quickly?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
