Long time lurker here... GW undergrad and I can definitely tell you GW is great and the law school is definitely one of the best in my opinion. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about DC (housing, neighborhood, foggy bottom, etc.) Very happy to stay at GW and DC

I think with GW, literally all you have to do is ask and they'll give you money. It's not much, but I got $21,000 ($7,000/yr) with the only stipulation to remain in good academic standing. I have no business receiving money from GW. My LSAT is at the 25th percentile and my GPA at the median.

Re: George Washington C/O 2017
I have multiple offers from schools with higher rankings and lower tuition and COL that are all much better than GW's offer and all it got me was a very small increase which was still under what the other three schools are offering me. Looks like they are either tapped out or very stingy, either way it doesn't look good for me. Even though I really wanted to end up in DC I'll likely be going somewhere better for a lot less...nightshade wrote:Also just got the scholarship email. They initially gave me nada, now giving me 16K/year. Meanwhile have 30k/yr no-grades-attached offer from WUSTL. Do you guys think it's worth it for me to try to negotiate GW's offer up by telling them about WUSTL's offer?

Just got the scholly info email. Offered a big fat $0 in merit aid. Sad because I was actually wishing to end up at GW. 162/3.3x AA urm.
Oh well, I guess my only hope is need based but I don't have high hopes for that.

When is the deposit deadline for everyone who has received scholarships?

I feel your pain, dude. My stats are a little higher than yours but I also got absolutely nothing. :/Quan292 wrote:Just got the scholly info email. Offered a big fat $0 in merit aid. Sad because I was actually wishing to end up at GW. 162/3.3x AA urm.

Negotiated my scholarship with GW, and they increased it 60%. Still less than what I'm getting from other comparable schools, but close enough to not make it a deal breaker.

GW is so misleading with their scholarships. Keep in mind that their tuition is a whopping 52k. Them offering you 21k compared to let's say Bama offering you 21k is still a slap in the face. I simply don't understand how people who get offered less than 30k can afford to attend this school...

GW has seemed more like a machine the more time has gone on. Went from my top choice to now not even considered.

When I went for a tour as an admitted student, it was student-led, and not one person in admissions said hello. I didn't expect much, but someone walking out of their office and saying 'hello, I hope you enjoy the tour, glad you could make it' would have been nice.

Waitlisted!!!
The scene in dumb and dumber where Jim Carey smiles and says "So you're telling me there's a chance" comes to mind.
now, I gotta work that waitlist!!!

People who just received scholarship info or a scholly bump, what are your deposit deadlines? I got a small bump, but it's still not enough to even cover rent. It's pretty tough to justify attending GW at such a price.

people who deposited april 1st to secure their initial scholarship offer and then got a recent bump in their scholarship...have any of you tried to negotiate for a higher scholarship since the newest offer?

At this point I've given up trying to understand the admissions process.
I was complete 2/14 and just got waitlisted on Friday.

Seriously?! What were your numbers (if you don't mind me asking). Are you going to stay on the wait list or are you putting a deposit down at another school?Agentsoapbox wrote:At this point I've given up trying to understand the admissions process.

Also...did your status on the online checker ever change? Or did you just find out you were wait listed out of the blue?

161LSAT and 3.28GPA
GW was definitely a reach. I applied on the advice of a friend. It would definitely be a momentous event for me if I did get into GW.
For now, I'm depositing at UMiami. I like that school and it's near my home so very little uprooting of my life. But I'm going to stay on the GW waitlist and work it as best I can. I need to write a LOCI and see if I can't make myself a little more interesting to them.

So I definitely don't expect to be accepted or even wait listed with my stats, but if they haven't given the rest of us a decision at this point, is that really a de facto wait list? Or have they just not looked through all of the apps yet? I went complete 3/10 like many others and still nothing.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
