WL (173/3.2 submitted super early as regular decision)... woe is me. How many more waitlisted emails must I endure as a penitent splitter before I see the light?

I submitted end of October, but wasn't granted residency until early December (no idea why it took that long), so I'm not sure whether my application was considered complete in October or December. I was RD.

I'm RD as well. Went complete in October minus residency determination which took until December as well. T20Hopeful and I experienced the same pain together. It was definitely not fun.

Wow, this YP trend is nuts, but i guess it explains the big money offers to those right at medians. UVA is aggressively targeting the applicants who they don't think can get in to better schools (but still have decent numbers), and giving them more money than peer schools. Bold strategy.

It is not uncommon for UVA to WL candidates above both medians and subsequently admit them after receiving a sincere LOCI.

So, if you got the WL but have strong #s and are truly interested in UVA, shoot them a thoughtful LOCI and await the good news that will surely follow a week or two later.

Not to be a downer...but maybe there's a wave of rejects coming next I submitted in October, have heard nothing since then, so I am now assuming that a rejection is coming my way

According to the graph, it seems there was a big wave of rejections the 1st week of January last year, so this seems very possible.

Yes, at least I did. Fairly certain that has been the norm so far, but can't say for sure.
