i wonder how fany would do on the LSAT...seeing as she's an "expert" in english and all. hahaha. probably better than sica. but yeah, that seems very frustrating, i actually had some similar issues with their office since i didn't want to provide my parent's income and such and they seemed very responsive with my email requests, hopefully they resolve your issue soon.
rassist, you can't call me by my username???
fany would get a 180 because she is awesome at everything
it did get resolved, i should have just asked lsac sooner... i got 62.5k (dean's award), i'm very very happy about this.
edit: 75K with PI.

Argh my father took forever to do his part for the need access/fafsa. He sent it in about a week ago. The faaps site says application not started, yet I received a confirmation when need access was complete. Does it take awhile to be received by NYU? Or should I call tomorrow?
Starting to stress.

A few questions I'm hoping you all can help me out with.
I saw earlier that someone had called financial aid and they said that the named scholarship people would probably be hearing whether they were dinged or not by early this week. Can we assume that we didn't make the cut by this point?
Also, are people always hearing back about their scholarships via email, or is this accessed via the admitted students website?

It depends on the scholarship in question. Some scholarships have already notified finalists, but some have not made any notifications at all. I believe most people were notified via phone or email.

For those filing appeals, how did you phrase it? What information is best to include - just peer scholarship offers or also resume updates, etc.? Also, if you are using scholarship info from other schools, do you need to attach some sort of proof in the "supporting documents" section?
Sorry for all the questions, but better safe than sorry!

Talk about how it's your top choice, you love NYC, blah blah blah. Provide the other scholarship offers, and say that you can't justify attending w/o more money... and then attach scholarship offers as PDFs.

After I filed my appeal, the confirmation email said if they update the amount they will also give a new deadline. Not exactly what you're asking I know, but at least that means they are open to deciding after the 6th.

Thanks! What if I don't have the pdf? I do for one, but not the other as it was offered during the admit phone call...will they believe me without the document for proof?

Do you have a paper copy you can scan? If not try contacting the office and asking for an emailed scholarship award for negotiation purposes. I can't imagine a school is going to take a value just in your word, they probably want documentation to confirm it.

So I don't have any peer offers (didn't even try for any besides Columbia, I know, I know, terrible, but it's done with so please don't harass me about that). Should I still attempt to negotiate? Should I wait and see if I hear anything from Columbia?

Did you receive an award at nyu?

I was mainly wondering if anyone had simply asked for more time to consider the initial offer. But the information you provided is useful as well. Thanks!

If you search financial aid nyu there a couple old threads that discuss the deadline. I believe some were successful in extending it but I would double check

Hmm don't think there's much you can do then. CLS won't get back to you until right at the deadline so no sense waiting for them.

Question...I know on another forum some people were talking about making multiple first deposits to different schools to reserve their spots, since they were probably still going to be waiting to hear back from some schools by deadlines and hadn't made a final decision. It's possible to do this with NYU if you've gotten a scholarship offer, right? The wording with the scholarship confuses me a little bit, so I just wanted to verify.

No, I don't think so. NYU forces you to withdraw from all other schools to which you have been accepted. You can still be on waitlists though.

So basically, if accept my scholarship offer, I have to pull out from everywhere else? That would kind of simplify matters...

I don't even know whether the other two schools I'm interested in will have made their decisions by then. I also have an ASW booked for the week after that...

Also bumping this because I am curious and haven't seen a response to an extension request yet. How would we go about asking for one?

I mentioned this in the Stanford thread but it's more relevant here - as far as I understood, you wouldn't have to withdraw from schools that haven't gotten back to you yet, this would affect only schools that have already accepted you
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
