UPDATE: As I mentioned I withdrew two days ago. Today UMD called me up and offered an additional 18k a year, which means the school would be completely free. I have until Wednesday.

I am a GIB fella, so I get $17,500 a year for any school. Florida is my other choice, but now I am not sure if it is worth going to Florida and pay 19k a year (until I establish residency). Technically, I don't even need residency in Maryland now.

Thoughts???

Oh yeah, I am interested in tax law. That is why I am interested in UF.

FloridaU's top program is #2 in the country for tax law. Maryland's top program is #3 for Healthcare law.

I haven't gotten the Asst. Dean on the phone yet! When I called this morning she was busy and I left my name and number but haven't heard back yet!

Keeping my fingers crossed!

I called Maryland to decline this morning and literally 10 minutes later they called me back and upped the scholarship to 25k a year. Seriously I wish they would just tell me the maximum amount they could offer and get it over with.

It would seem that MD is trying to fill a certain profile in their class. What's even more interesting is the fact they are grabbing at the people that aren't even 100% committed to attending while they have some others on the waitlist that are 100% committed and would go even without scholarship and not a peep. Just an observation.

I'll probably hit them up again on Monday just to touch base.

I'm gonna call Monday and see if there are any updates.

Anyone figure out housing yet? I called 611 Park Avenue this morning and they said they have 1 bedrooms starting at $1150 a month which is over budget for me but with the new scholarship I might be able to do it. They also said the Severn was sold out and those appeared to be the cheapest apartments close to campus. Any tips on cheap housing within walking distance of campus (about 2 miles for me) would be much appreciated.

Federal Hill has some really nice places, but I wouldnt want to walk late at night after the library (its about a mile or 2 walk). Canton and Fells are nice too, but you would have to drive.

Does seem to be that way. They won't be paying out all of that money anyway. They already know that. Have to keep their numbers up to keep that ranking. I will pay full price the first year and apply for scholarships before my second.

Sounds like Comcast cable. They say your special offer is over, but when you call them to threaten to cancel your cable program, they'll offer you another deal.
