Good point. I'd love to hear a current student take a shot at guessing the the number of students getting NLJ 250 jobs for the class of 2012 or 2013? I realize it's only a guess, but 26 students for the class of 2011, is just horrifying. Spite? 2L person?zozin wrote:People don't get NLJ250 jobs the year they graduate, they get them during OCI, 2 years before they graduate. So the class of 2011 was doing OCI during the fall of 2009, after the financial meltdown. The class of 2010 was doing OCI in the fall of 2008, when stuff wasn't that bad.BeerMaker wrote: It is my understanding that the worst of the recession is upon us. Despite what economists say is a slight turn around in the evonomy in 2011, NDLS still dropped from 23% to a sickening 13%. What on earth will it be next, 6%? Based on the downward trend, what makes people optimistic? I ask because there seems to be optimism in the minds of the above posters.
Also how could a policy change make T250 firms hire more than 13%?

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2015
My guess is that the percentage will be somewhere between 15-20% for 2012 with a corresponding improvement in mid-market firms. I think the above poster was correct in his prediction for 2013, probably 20-25%. I think that's probably a reasonable prediction for 2014 and beyond too. That's just my guess though.

So of the 85% of students employed at graduation, what percentage of them are actually working as lawyers? What percentage do you think are making six figures?

Remember that there's some government/PI employers who can't make hard offers until a grad has passed the bar, but if you put it 3-6 months out I still think its well over 90%. There's been a few "J.D. preferred" jobs that have popped up, but I think those are outside the norm. Probably about 1/3 in the six figure range, excluding those who took clerkships. I'm really speculating though.BeerMaker wrote:So of the 85% of students employed at graduation, what percentage of them are actually working as lawyers? Wow! If that's true, why all the bummers about the economy?SpiteFence wrote:Remember that there's some government/PI employers who can't make hard offers until a grad has passed the bar, but if you put it 3-6 months out I still think its well over 90%. I think the comparison between today and the "glory days" of 2005-06 is still pretty striking for most. And dont get me wrong, I still know lots of smart people without jobs yet. But I'm still happy with the investment, as are many other of my classmates.

Was accepted off waitlist Apr. 30, with 20k a year. Would really love to go, but if I think about it will probably withdraw today or tomorrow. Hopefully, someone who really is committed will enjoy my spot =). 3.4/167

Has there been any movement on the waitlist since April 20th? My second deposit is due soon, but ND is definitely where I want to go!

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2015
Since I was accepted on Apr. 30th, I imagine that around then was when a lot of the spaces were initially filled. Though there was a deadline of May 14th, for those accepted off the wait list to make their first deposits. With that in mind I would expect another smaller group of people accepted off sometime later this month.

Whole Foods is coming to South Bend this fall. Not sure if anyone here cares, but that's very exciting for me!

Does anyone have any insight on the chances of getting in off the waitlist at this point?

I would expect some movement, I'm sure many people put down the first deposit to either keep their options open or visit the school if they were accepted off the wait list. The second deposit is due this Sunday so I wouldn't be surprised to see some people accepted in the next few weeks. Good Luck!

If anyone was curious, I called the office of admissions today and they're still working on getting a head count. They plan on admitting a small group of students by sometime next week!h2oplyer7 wrote:So is this the week some of us waitistees will hear something? I hope so!

I've seen a few new friends pop up on facebook, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean they were wait listed. I don't have Facebook, but I still check out the page once in a while. Good luck wait listers. Hope to see you in the fall. I think this will be a fun 1L group.

Kinda scary.. though as many have said, outside of the T14 there was a significant drop off in OCI hiring for fall 2009 which was class of 2011. But, that school funded rate is crazy high as well.princeR wrote:Anyone see the class of 2011 stats on LST?

2009 was killer. Makes it seem crazy to drop that kind of cash. Hopefully 2015 is much better, though most seem to doubt it.ColoBoul wrote:Kinda scary.. though as many have said, outside of the T14 there was a significant drop off in OCI hiring for fall 2009 which was class of 2011.
